Where would he play? minutes would be an issue unless they put Freeland in deal. Myers I'm assuming is in any deal

    Doesn't make a lotta sense.

    1) They want a PF, no-one on the blazers we could give up
    2) Asik wants to start, but i wouldnt start him

Unless of course this is a three-team deal

I have no clue what we could possibly give up to make a run at him.

Based on what would you guys not start Asik? Team chemistry with Rolo? You don't think Asik can do the same things Rolo can do? Asik is a better rebounder and defender over the course of his career, is he not?

Our defense is rated 20+ in the NBA.

Even a three-team deal makes no sense, for the reasons you listed. Houston wants nothing that we would offer, and we don't need what Houston would offer.

Based on how good our offense has been, and how Robin flashing to the ft line has been a big plus. How he can catch a pass a lot better than asik.

Asik & Lopez frontline would make us an absolute beast. Not surprising Oshley would make a play.

That said, it seems like we would have to mortgage our future (good or bad thing depending on how you look at it).

Chemistry goes a long way when you think of role players. Yes, if Asik was a game changing All star, then trading Rolo would be fine. But Asik is just a defensive role player. Not a game changer.

    Sorry no deal!

I'm fully OK with mortgaging the future for a title shot. But unless Asik is willing to platoon with Fropez, it's a no go.

Would they be interested in trading him straight up for Thomas Robinson?

If getting Asik takes only Leonard, freeland and Barton, claver or Crabbe then you do the deal.

And the ones saying we don't have what Houston wants... Well Freeland is realistically a PF and works well with dominant low post players. Leonard is a floor spacer and Howard's help defense would help Leonard's inability to defend well.

Weren't they being offered Milsapp though? I don't know why Houston would take that over him.

Well as it stands, Rolo is the starting center. Asik would have to earn those minutes. If he bitches, then tough shit.

If they can get Milsap, then the deal is a no brainer for Houston.

my guess is that if we are involved it is in as a facilitator role and we perhaps acquire an asset or two, maybe a pick, we will see

You'd have to think the deal would have been done by now if that was the case though...

If we drop a spot, 2, 3 or 4 and raise up at least 5 spots or so in defense, I'd say that's a win.

Obviously this is based on keeping RoLo + Asik, but I have no clue what else we have to offer.

Maybe Houston sees Meyers as a 4? Claver? Beats me.
