To the best of my knowledge (and I'm very rarely wrong) Here's what we've got so far.......... OUT ______ Jayson Nix, Mark Reynolds, Lyle Overbay, Kevin Youkilis, Travis Hafner, Curtis Granderson, Robertson Cano, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Joba Chamberlain, Boone Logan & Phil Hughes. IN _____ Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran, Matt Thornton, Kelly Johnson & Brian Roberts. If I'm right then there's still a few roster spots open. And if I've missed anyone please feel free to add on. Of the OUTS I honestly think we should resign both Nix & Reynolds.
...they're already at the 40 man limit...but among other things, they are showing 5 catchers, so yeah, things will obviously change with the 40 man roster. ...(Beltran has not been added yet)
Ichiro and Wells are out, probably Nunez as well, but they're basically on hold until they hear about the Arod decision, then they can make a move and offer those guys for hopefully an IF, but if not whatever, and NY is in no rush, they need time to allow teams to get desperate. They're also on hold waiting for Tanaka, as is half the teams in baseball, if NY doesn't get him then there could be a big push to find a starter via trade.
And if so they have some good chips to move, they could package a Sanchez or Murphy, one of the young OF, Gardner, Phelps, some younger chips, they could make a solid offer for a starter if that starter were worth getting, maybe not as good as a handful of other teams but still very good. Also they could say F-it and just try to beat teams with offense this year and grab another big bat.
...if Philly was willing to deal him and willing to absorb some of his contract, I'd like Cliff Lee as an alternative to Tanaka..
