It works for us more this season than most because we are primarily a man-to-man team that doesn't double much. But yeah, it's a bit compromised because of zone defenses.
That's why I am using it. We rarely double, with most of our defense coming from one on one basketball.
Wright is horrible. PER doesn't account for not boxing out. I would be fine with Wright if he was just having a shooting slump, but he makes a lot of stupid mistakes. He takes shots that are outside his wheelhouse, and he isn't hitting the shots that are his forte. He needs to post up on the three point line, wait for the ball, and do nothing else.
Agreed. He also appears to get lost on defense (part of the not boxing out). A week back or so people said it was foolish to suggest that perhaps Crabbe should be given a shot - reason being that Crabbe can't defense, and Wright is doing a better job than Crabbe would. Eh - maybe. But given Wright's poor play, it's not that far-fetched to think that a rookie could perform as well, or better. After the draft I seem to recall people mentioning that Crabbe would be a good 3-and-D guy - which implies he was a good defender in college. Anybody who followed him in college able to weigh-in on this?
Not a great defender but certainly solid. Also, a tremendous shooter which for the season, Dorell has struggled with. I'm not advocating giving the rookie those minutes but I'm not sure how it can hurt to give him occasional run. With the results so far, it would be difficult for him to be worse defensively or from a shooting standpoint. Not impossible as rookies can freeze up but it's not like Wright is doing anything to keep someone else from at least getting a look.
Well, and like I said, if it was just a slump I'd be okay with it, but the guy is making horrible decisions as well. It's not just missing his shots.
Agreed again. I understand needing to let Wright play into his role. But if he hasn't learned how to play with this team by mid-season then we should definitely be giving Crabbe a shot. One of those two will need to play well in the Playoffs.
