I think they should have cut him a break and gave him the 10 million a year he wanted...I love the guy but damn that contract may be a real PITA for this team if this year is any indication.
Defense is crap in front of him. The fact he blows on breakaways is very concerning. He was the best in the league against those.
My lord we turned on him quickly...LOL. The guy has carried us for 7 seasons. He is having a bad first 1/2 of the season, no doubt, but I think he is allowed one bad 1/2 season or one bad full season even. Relax on Hank. If he is struggling again next season I would be concerned. For now I chalk it up to a bad season. Everyone is acting like he is done beacuse of 30 games. Crazy IMO.
I think he will bounce back big time. However, he's realizing his defense sucks in front of him and I think he's putting too much pressure on himself to win every game by himself.
I agree dump. For now, and that could change if he comes out struggling next season, I am not concerned about Hank big picture. I think he is simply having a bad season, just like the rest of his awful, terrible, worst team in the NHL is.
Just goes to show how bad this team has always been. If Hank stands on his head, there is just enough to usually eke into the 8th spot. Without Hank, NYR would have been a perennial 11th-13th place team. We'd be going on about 14 years now without even seeing a playoff game. Hank should be cut some slack for 1/2 a bad season, or even a full season for that matter.
Like I said in another thread. You can't find another goalie who has had 8 great years in a row. Most goalies have 2 average to bad seasons out of 5 years. We are spoiled with Hank.
