Anybody notice how similar these two play alike? Paul is an exact replica of Thomas.I was looking at some stats and noticed how freakishly similar there rookie numbers are.Isiah Thomas:PPG- 17.0APG- 7.8SPG- 2.08FG%- .4243P%- .288Team turnaround in wins: 18.Chris Paul:PPG- 16.1APG- 7.8SPG- 2.24FG%- .430 3P%- .282Team turnaround in wins: 20.How amazing is that? Do you see Chris Paul eventually becoming the better of the two?

Isah lead his team to 2 NBA Championships going up against the Lakers and was a true leader.

Interesting thread, good find, Balla. All I can say: it wouldn't surprise me if Chris Paul would eventually be the better player. The kid will have a great, great future, and will become one of the best pg's in the league.

I think CP3 will eventually be better than Isaiah. He definetly has the quality and potential to become one of the best.

Wow, nice find Ballahollic. Those are some crazy numbers. But anyways, I dont see Chris Paul being a better player, I just dont think that he will be able to score as well as Isiah. But only time will tell.

look no offense, but isnt this the same idea I had with Bosh and Garnett? I asked people if Bosh would ever be better than him, and some people told me it doesn't matter its what he is doing now??isnt Isiah (like Garnett) RIGHT NOW the one who had the better career so far.(like u said about Garnett) and the one thats better NOW (like u said about Garnett)I also used their stats from their rookie and current years and they were similiar yet I got accused of using facts for an arguement.

BTW, just like Thomas, Paul looks nice and not aggresive, but when he gets on the court he turns into a killer....just like Thomas. I think its too early to tell if hes going to be better than a legend/HOF in Thomas, but then again, he turned around the Hornets(which Allstar Baron Davis couldnt do). Hes a true point guard and will be a superstar, but Im hesitant so say he will be better than a legend like Isiah Thomas.

Except for the fact Paul was more a passer, and Isiah was more a shooter. However, I do see Paul becoming better because he has that mentality to pass. Generally, that comes with time. Paul already has it

I don't think that Paul will be better than Isiah. Thomas was not only known for his great offense and winning abilities, but his durability and defense were amazing. Paul hasn't had any major injuries yet, but his defense isn't that special. But Paul has shown amazing ability all around that ranks up there with Isiah. CP3 better be an All-Star this year.

Since CP is playing now there's always going to be a temptation to say he will be better. However, Isiah is a ledgend of the game. CP will have to lead his team to a few ring to even have a chance. I think that will be his biggest hurdle. He has to beat the other young guns like LBJ DW and CA to get there(to naem a few) I dont like his chances. He will be a great player but It takes more than a good season for me to start saying he's going to be better than one of the ALL TIME legends.Shame on all of you. One good season does not a legend make. [IMG]

Paul as a rookie could beat Isiah as a rookie in a 5 on 5 game.

Which is true. Garnett is the most versatile big man in the league and can do everything. Bosh isn't like that. Sorry that I got off-topic but I had to porve a point.

durvasa pointed this out to me.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to basketball-reference.com, the Pistons in 81-82 (Isiah's rookie season) had a 104.3 pace factor (possessions per 48 minutes). The Hornets last year played at only a 89.0 pace, by comparison. So, in the same number of minutes, we can infer that Isiah had about 17% more possessions to collect his "stats". If you want a fair comparison just looking at the stats, compare their numbers per 40 minutes, and then also reduce Isiah's numbers by 17% across the board. This is what the comparison looks like now:[IMG]It's fairly evident here that Paul's numbers are actually much better. That's reflected in the vast difference in PER that I mentioned (22.1 to 14.5)</div>

That may be true but that doesn't trake into acount Isiah's supporting cast. Aside from him was there anyother addditions in the off season? Was he the second guy on the team? That is only one aspect.

<span style="font-family:Book Antiqua">It's stupid to compare players when they just finished their rookie season to a player who is a Legend. When Kobe was in[/b] his rookie season, people compared him to MJ. I don't see why, though. Yeah, they played similar-styles/similar pace, but Kobe didn't get enough play-time to prove anything. Basically, I'm just saying, "Stop comparing motherfuckers to others!"</span>
