How would Torts being the head coach change the fact that Hank is playing like crap this year and is the primary reason for the bulk of the Rangers losses? Not blaming AV for Hank sucking either but this has been Hank's 7th stinker in a row and AV has a more than able backup in Talbot growing rust on the pine. BS call on McD but Hank gets beat on a flutterpuck by Clutterbuck? Then caught between after a bad bounce gets by McD grabbing at air on a breakaway by Grabner? Give Hank a break every 3-4 games AV, he and his screwed up head need it.

I know it's AV's first year and he's been dealt a lousy hand in a game he's unfamiliar with but that doesn't mean he can oversee half-assed hockey because next year will be different. This Ranger team comes out flat and unmotivated to start every damn game now, part of it is lack of confidence but there are also certain guys that can play with 50-75% effort with no worries while others make one mistake and they're in the doghouse. Obviously there's going to be turnover on next year's roster but AV seems hesitant to put young guys like Miller and McIlrath in the lineup, their mistakes could be no worse than the everygame buffoonery of D. Moore or Girardi and his one knee shot blocking technique. Fast has been a nice addition, he seems to be developing an edge to his game that can't be learned in the AHL, let McIlrath do the same.

The Rangers are probably at rock bottom now, whether they can rebound and make something happen rests on the shoulders of their superstars and AV. Nash needs to stop the ice dancing and start putting shots on goal, don't care if they're slapshots from the blue line, same with Richards. Gotta keep the faith at least until pitchers and catchers report, should know the Rangers fate by then. I still think this team collectively could not be playing worse hockey now, AV needs to establish himself.

I do think we'd be better with Torts as coach of this specific team, because this is a Torts style molded team (not a lot of skill/good deal of grind forwards who cannot score). It would also be difficult not to be better than the trash we are watching these days. No one said great, but better than the worst team in the NHL right now IMO...yes.

With that said who knows whether they would be better or not. And I guess honestly...who cares. We are where we are. Torts is gone. We move on.

I wanted Torts gone but say what you want he is doing a great job with his new team and I have no doubt this team would be better right now with him coaching then they are with AV. AV doesn't have the guys he needs to run his system, hopefully he is not a one trick pony like Mike Dantoni was when he coached the Knicks. You have to play a style that fits the players you have. This team just has zero offensive ability and that is WITH NASH.

It's absolutely brutal reading AT's posts now. Just brutal. Going to have to give the Ignore function a test drive.

We definitely would be better with Torts but not going to matter, maybe they win a round in the playoffs. That style of hockey has a shelf life and guess what AT, they exceeded it. Vancouver will as well even though Torts is mellower his style can only be played for a period of time.

Firing that dinosaur was the right move. But you gotta reboot the roster too, especially when Torts CLEARLY had a say in personnel he had brought it. The roster right now has Torts fingerprints ALL over it and it is basically the SAME roster as Torts teams with EVEN more grinders (Dom Moore, Pouliot, etc).

Let Torts go Al. His style didn't win $hit here either

Would you feel better Al if we couldn't buy out Richards and guys like Asham Powe Boyle Pyatt and Moore all had 4 years left on their deals?

Torts is officially put to bed. That's what Al just said. Time to move on, and he knows it. Now let's focus on how we can improve this crap team...:).

As much as I loathe the Devils, with inferior talent, they play harder than this team by a lot. AV never had a problem with his team in Vancouver playing hard. Seems to be 4-6 dumbasses on this team that have that problem.

I forget who predicted the 7-3 record in the 10 games including this homestand, but how is that working out? Boy was I a fool saying maybe 5-5. They are so much worse than I even though. Haven't seen a Ranger team with so little heart since before the lockout.
