I haven't seen this posted and its a few days old, but.....This guy thinks that Marvin Williams is who we should go after this offseason. Not sure I agree... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/portland-trail-blazers-39-summer-2014-39-not-180100883--nba.html ummmm okay...
He'd be an upgrade over Dorrell Wright, but with Mo Williams taking chunks of bench minutes, where does Williams get the 20-25 mpg he would need to be effective?
There are other guys that I would go after in free agency this summer. I think we need a solid post player coming off the bench.
I agree that they need help up front. Now if Meyers could actually turn the corner and start showings signs of growth maybe that would fill the need but the time and window is beginning now, not later. Otherwise, I'm still in the Hawes camp. Williams is a nice piece but I'd like to see someone who could create a little more for himself and his teammates.
That would be an issue if your foreshadowing is correct and if this team loses in the first round what then?
Marvin Williams is the best off season bench player he could come up with for the Blazers!? Havent read a more useless article since the onion.
What other veterans who can create their own shot, defend, and aren't a dumpster fire in terms of chemistry would be available for the MLE? I'd be willing to let Wright go if Williams could be added to the team next year. He can be a starter if needed.
I agree he would be a tremendous fit coming off the bench, but the most glaring deficiency I feel we have is a serviceable back up center. We need front court depth for the playoffs because if rolo gets in early foul trouble or injured we will be in bad shape. Our wing and guard positions are pretty solid top to bottom.
