Richards was signed and paid to be the number 1 C. His troubles have placed Stepan under the microscope. The Richards that was supposed to be here would have taken alot of the pressure off of Stepan.
Yep. Its true. Richards will be gone in 6 months though. Bought out. Will sign with the Islanders, Flyers or Devils for $3m a year and put up 60 pts a season for awhile
Cannot disagree, 31. Stepan is best suited for the 3rd line. Not a top 6er. It is Goodbye to Richards. No matter what Sather thinks, his time is someplace else. Richards let New York be his distraction....never proved to handle the NY scene.
Stepan is a very good #2 center, not 3rd line. He is a 20 goal 55-60 pt guy who is a great teammate and is sound defensively. Those players while not special are very valuable. He is not a 3rd liner 0-1 on the road trip. I think this trip could be a disaster record wise
He is a tad bit better talent wise then dubinski but lacks the physical and size that dubi has... in other words not to line material. I funny wasn't too hear he had to what ever point as a centermen last year. there are too many stretches he goes unnoticed. One of the few right handed shots on this team.
