    Didn't Kingspeed want this guy badly? That would have seriously blew up in our face. Not only would we have lost all cap space, we'd probably see rumblings of Aldridge demanding a trade.

    Signing Bynum would have blown our entire cap load.

    It's good that we aren't GMs. We'd be in some serious trouble!

    This summer I was in the sign Bynum camp also. No idea he was this bad off mentally and physically, so glad Olshey is a pro and sniffed that out. I feel bad for Cleveland though, Bynum dupped them and in turn really torpedo'd their chances of doing something special with a great young roster.

    It's very possible Bynum's played his final game for Cavs, sources tell Yahoo. In trade, a team can waive Bynum and save $6m of $12m salary.

    Looking back this shouldn't be a surprise. Remember when he missed part of the beginning of a season because he delayed a knee surgery to go to South Africa and watch the World Cup, not exactly a professional attitude.

    Remember when Oden vs Bynum was to be the goliath center battle of the future, times change.

    Is he suspende without pay? If so, and he doesn 't want to play, why doesn't he just retire? His lack of desire to play is going to cost him over $20 million, but only $6 million of that was guaranteed, and he's already been paid about $4 million for this season already. So, he'd only be walking away from about $2 million of guaranteed money. No way Cleveland doesn't waive him (or trade him to another team who will then waive him).

    So why don't the Cavs just waive him save the $6 million and undo this mess? If he's waived before July 10, 2014 they also get out of the $12 million he'd be owed next year. Obviously the Cavs were concerned about the risk of signing Bynum and were only willing to guarantee $6 million of his $24+ million contract.

    Now, perhaps if David Kahn had been the Cavs GM the whole contract would have been guaranteed (ala Brandon Roy).

    Last summer I thought he was finished, but for physical reasons, not mental. I'm surprised he has played at all this season.

    Remember when Kareem taught him the finer points for a season, he turned it down for the next season, and Kareem was very disappointed? We heard motivation rumors then. Was he 17, or 18, when he played his first NBA game. Or am I thinking of Jermaine-Kobe.

    No surprise, but I'm told the Clippers would have interest in Andrew Bynum if he's released. Final $6 mil of his deal guaranteed Jan. 7.

    The Cleveland Cavaliers are determined to unload Andrew Bynum in a trade after their partnership with the former All-Star center has rapidly deteriorated, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
    Bynum has almost assuredly played his final game for the Cavaliers, a source with direct knowledge of the franchise's plans told Yahoo Sports after the team announced Saturday it has suspended Bynum indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.
    "He doesn't want to play basketball anymore," a league source told Yahoo Sports.
    The Cavaliers believe Bynum has been a "disruptive" presence within the team and have lost hope the partnership can be salvaged, sources said. Bynum often expressed a lack of desire to play and practice and was convinced by the Cavaliers not to quit previously, sources said.
    Other teams that met with Bynum during his free agency last offseason were concerned about his desire to play and commitment to continue the rehab needed for him to play in the NBA after repeated knee problems, sources said.
    Bynum, 26, signed a two-year deal worth $24.8 million with the Cavs prior to the season. Only $6 million of the $12.2 million Bynum is due this season is guaranteed if he is waived before Jan. 7. He could be attractive to teams looking to shed some salary because they could acquire him for a player with a similar contract and save $6 million by waiving Bynum.
    Bynum also could try to negotiate a buyout with the Cavaliers and seek to sign a contract for the veteran's minimum with a contending team if he clears waivers.
    Bynum did not travel with the team to Boston for Saturday's game against the Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers said he has been excused from all team activities indefinitely.
    Bynum has averaged 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 19.5 minutes in 24 games with the Cavaliers. He had four points and one rebound in 17 minutes in a 127-125 double overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
    Bynum won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers but has missed repeated time throughout his career because of knee injuries. He did not play a single game for the Philadelphia 76ers last season after they acquired him from the Lakers.

    I wonder if going back to LA would help him. Bynum backing up Jordan on the Clips would boost them to near favorites to win the west.

    read an article in USAToday just prior to his last surgery in may in which he stated that there wasn't any cartiladge left in the one knee, like roys knees. and was pinning hopes of a return to all star status on growing cartaledge in a petri dish. he also stated he wasn't much interested in trying to play through the pain. surprised by how well he has played at all after reading it last spring.
