http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/426...s_luke_jackson/ Perfect pic I found of him working out for the C's in a pre-draft workout a few years ago. Boston Gets G/F: Luke Jackson Cash considerations Cleveland Gets C: Dwayne Jones My thoughts I have expressed that I'm not really a Luke Jackson fan, and he is a bust so far, and with injuries.. But we got him and cash... for Jones! Jones wasn't going to make it over O anyway, so this is a good deal for what we gave up. BUT: This HAS to link to a future bigger trade. We wouldn't just add another wing if it didn't. Maybe this could mean we aren't going to pick up TA's option by October 31st. Maybe it links to another trade in which we deal a current wing or two. Maybe it means in 60+ days, Luke Jackson's contract is going to be packaged. But now I'm thinking that maybe O is going to be cut. Jackson is on the roster, obviously, and Powe has some upside. But, O has been playing so well! Now it's interesting. Also: Jackson > Scal - so I'm happy about that at least. Update from Celtics.com I guess Jackson was present in Waltham for the Celtics' shootaround today, and he will be in uniform tonight.
Yeah, this was strictly a financial move for Cleveland. But for us, it gets us some money and a guy who I think will be cut..I'd like to see a game or two from Luke first though. But you are probably right, this will lead to another trade I bet.

He's an excellent shooter and he can run the floor. No way he gets cut. I think O is the odd man out now, which I don't like because I want O to make the team. But Jackson won't get cut. EDIT: Then again, now that I think about it, I don't want to waste Kandi's newfound hustle for another wing. I still am pushing for O to make the team, but I think Jackson probably will make it.
Well you just said in you first post that he's a bust, injury or not. And I totally agree. He sucks. He's Jiri Welsch Version 2. No way he stays on this team with the amount of wings we have now. Tony Allen, Delonte West, Gerald Green, Wally, and Paul.
New idea that I got from someone over at CelticsBlog. I can't believe I didn't even think of this one: - O will still make the team over Pittsnogle and Akingbala - Jackson/Ray will battle it out for the last spot That makes sense. And if Jackson is healthy, he's better than Ray, IMO. Both of them are dynamite shooters, except Luke is bigger. But I hope this is correct, because I really want O to make the team.
I actually believe Luke is good, but he isn't such of a good player, he is like one of those bench warmers like Dahntey Jones. Hopefully he will get playing time this year.
LOL when I first read this topic title, I misread it and thought it said "Celtics acquire Lauren Jackson from Cleveland.I was thinking What the Hell. As far I can tell Luke Jackson will more than likely be sitting at the end of a long bench for most of his career.
I am so excitied about this trade! I am sure some of you remember I have lobbied for the C's to get Luke Jackson for several months!
I think you're right when you say Jackson and Ray will battle out the last spot. But I think Ray has proven he can play in the NBA. He's a very good player. He just makes plays.
I really don't see much of a point to this trade at all, unless we're going to trade say wally or another wing for a vat big man. it's just one more guy to have on the wings that won't play.

I think of Tony Allen in this for a few reasons: - Ainge/Doc have been publicly praising his play in camp daily (with no signs from preseason play), probably trying to boost his value a little bit. - Gerald played 4 minutes last night, Allen played a lot. Wonder why? Trying to showcase him, maybe? - We have until October 31st to pick up TA's option. It's the 14th and no word. - He hasn't been playing well at all lately and he's been forcing everything and not passing. - I havn't seen him smile once on the court. - Some teams, like maybe Denver, would love a young defensive stopper at the SG position. Even if it's not Tony Allen, something is brewing. Maybe it's that big deal everyone was talking about and he got Jackson for shooting insurance off the bench. Maybe he's involving Jackson's contract in a trade in 60 days when he can be dealt again. Nobody knows the answer, but everybody over at FSN, me, almost all the fans, etc. think something fishy is going on. Something is going to happen. There is no way we can still have Wally, West, Green, and Allen come December. Wally/West are big minute players and Gerald is ready. Tony Allen is looking like our worst wing of those guys so far, Gerald Green is breathing right down his neck for a spot in the rotation. Plus, with the spectacular play of Rondo, and Telfair playing very well, Delonte is going to have to see less and less minutes at the 1. Also note he played on the wing the ENTIRE 20+ minutes he was in last night. Something is going down. EDIT: a few typos
Good trade. I doubt this Dwyane Jones guy would have made the Celtics either. Am I correct? Luke is a good shooter, and he backed up Lebron James with the Cavs. Im guessing the Cavs didnt want his services anymore, because they clearly got the short end of the stick here.

But he did, so he was going to get cut anyway. And Jackson is a good shooter, but he didn't exactly back up LeBron. He was never healthy (2 back surgeries and a broken wrist in the 2 years he's been in the league), and he always found himself fighting for garbage minutes when he did return. I don't know if he's going to be on this team, but I think that he will be battling with Allan Ray for the final spot. I think O is pretty much a lock now.
He was only in his 2nd season though, and I think he is already a better player than Brian Scalabrine.
ANYone is better than scabs. <_<if Jackson takes any of scabs minutes, I'll be happy with this trade.
I'd love Jackson to take Scab's spot...But were paying him 3 mill a year, we might as well make him play..
