That is a huge loss for a team hoping to win the cup. Now is the time to try and deal Girardi to them. I want Fraser and Knight from them. Two tough, max effort forwards with offensive ability.

    Girardi

    for

    Fraser
    Knight
    1st round pick

It makes sense on every level now for both teams. Then the Rangers can call up Allen or McIlrath, even use a forward like Brassard or Boyle to trade for a defenseman.

These are how deals start. Teams who have a good record, lose a couple players for the year, then realize they can't win it all without them and they have to make trades offering up max value.

Of course imbecile Rangers fans on HF who love stupid, lazy, Russian prospects propose crap like Khokhlachev and a 1st. Fail. Fail on every level. Those are not the types of dopes the Rangers need. The need players like Fraser and Knight. Not stupid, lazy, Russians.

Always amusing the crap that comes from that board.

"Wait did someone hear a Nash rumor or something?"

A respected and vetted member of our happy HFNYR family with sources close to the team heard his name is "being tossed around."

Three teams, two East, one West.

    If they want

    Girardi
    Boyle

    for

    Fraser
    Knight
    1st round pick

    I'd still do it.

I'm really high on Fraser and Knight. Let's face it. The Bruins are a deep team but that entire team is based around Chara. Fans in Boston think he's starting to show his age with some turnovers. When he is gone, that team will no longer be the Bruins. They have to win now.

On Hockey Night in Canada, Elliotte Freidman said, “Stralman, a right handed shot got hurt last night and Del Zotto played 24 minutes. There was some thought that the Rangers would pull him back but there are still teams that think it will get dealt.”

Glenn Healy said, “if the Rangers trade him it will be a D for a D because of the Stralman situation but look for the Boston Bruins to call the Rangers about Dan Girardi. That is going to happen because that is a good player and there is no deal done. He isn’t for a whole host of a ransom but it still isn’t done. If they can get a lot back they will make that move.”

Friedman also wonders if Anaheim will be a player for Girardi.

    I could also see

    Girardi

    for
    Fraser
    Morrow
    1st

Morrow is the type of defenseman the Rangers like and lack more of.

I could see a 1st (or a high pick at worst) and a good young player who is ready to play next season for sure. Maybe the 3rd piece would be a little lesser young player who will be ready within the next year to play.

But make no mistake about it, Seiden going down helps our potential Girardi market, if we choose to deal him.

I'll say this about Girardi. I don't think his contract will be a huge issue. I think he'd take around 5 per +/- for 4 or 5 years. I also have no issue dealing him, but it has to be for a haul plain and simple. It cannot be a solid deal. If we deal Girardi we need a top level return no questions asked.

What I wonder though is what we do if we deal him. I know some will say he isn't good now anyway. He is struggling this season. On and on. But a dman who plays over 20 mpg on he 1st pair is VERY difficult to replace. Plus he is a righty shooter, which helps us as well. He will leave a huge hole that we need to fill for next season. Which will get added to the list of 3 or 4 huge holes we already need to fill for next season.

That is why the only way I deal Girardi and don't re-sign him is if we get a great haul for him. If we deal him for an okay package I think it is a mistake.

The dumbest Rangers fans on the planet clearly are on HF and have posted there for years. The absolute crap they would be happy with getting back for Girardi is mind boggling. 160 pound defenseman, head case Russian prospects, ect.... OMG! These clearly are the same morons that call up WFAN.

Boy i sure hope they dont get lazy and re-sign Girardi again that would be a massive mistake. Hopefully someone bites on him around the deadline if theyre out of it.

It would be a massive mistake to resign Girardi? Jeez 71 you've been real tough on the D this year. Yeah Girardi hasn't played at his normal level but if he comes back at a reasonable price I wouldnt call it a "massive mistake." At the end of the day he's still a top pairing, 22+ min defenseman. Not a fan of his patented go-down-on-one-knee-every-single-time-the-puck-is-near-the-net move but he's still good for us. If we trade him then fine but if he's back thats fine too.

4 Y at 5 million is fine for Girardi. Nothing more. 4 Y at 5 million is not fine for Callahan. He isn't durable. Most I would go for Callahan is 4 Y, 16 million. That's it.

I'm not at all questioning Girardis heart or will, i just think he's been worn down too much to be worth any type of increase. Outside of McDonagh and Moore who needs more time i think they need a fresher overhaul of guys AV can win with. Theyll have $$ to use on it

I'm good with both those numbers, but do you think Cally will actually take a pay cut and go down to 4m per? He's at 4.2m now, 4.5 probably wouldnt be that unreasonable. If he was going to have an injury-riddled year even by his standards I'm glad it was his contract year.

If they do bring him back i wouldnt go more than 2y for DG. Callahan even though he gets injured alot he embodies alot of what a captain should be even though he's not overly vocal. Id offer something like 4/21m for him.

Callahan should take a pay cut. You get paid to play games and produce. When you don't play, you can't ask for a raise.

If they can get Morrow and a 2nd for Girardi thats about right Dump. I dont see him bringing back a 1st though. A 2nd solid prospect also maybe.

I simply couldn't disagree more with you buddy. You way underrate Girardi. If we could get him back for 4 years at 5 mill per/20 mill total, I would do that for sure. I think that would get it done also. And if he wants 6 mil a year, then we deal him. Dmen who play 20 + mpg on the 1st pair game after game do not grow on trees.

My feeling on Girardi stays the same. If he is reasonable on his next contract I re-sign him. If he wants to break the bank I deal him. If we can get a great haul for him, not a decent solid deal but a great haul, I deal him.

    That's how I view Girardi.

I still say at days end we can re-sign both guys for 4 or 5 years at 10 or so mill total per year cap hit wise, closer to 10 hopefully. If either or both want more, then we should deal them. That simple to me.

I just think its a mistake to think he's going to play at a high level for much longer. His play is already starting to deteriorate and frankly i see him as a liability alot of times. He may be a 1st pair guy here but talent wise he isnt, and paying him like one is bad cap ngmt.
