Bone head plays, poor D and for a guy who is supposed to be a shooter he is 38.2 FG% and 36.8% from 3 - very disappointing
That is something I wonder as well. Not that they would be instant success but he is SO one-dimensional and that dimension is not very good right now. Would giving another guy a shot really that much of a risk?
He was a legit pitching prospect in HS before focusing on hoops his junior year. In 2006, he helped the Miami Heat win an NBA championship.
I don't post here a lot, obviously, but I think Wright's main problem this year is Mo is not giving him opportunities to succeed. Mo only seems to give him the ball when his defender is draped all over him and that causes bad shots. I think if you had Lillard or McCollum running the point Wright would have a lot more success with his shot.
CJ looked awful running the point in Summer League. Lillard hasn't learned to deal with double teams all that well yet either. If he needs a great assist to succeed, he's going to have a long season.
Summer league is no more than glorified street ball, there is no structure in summer league it's just a free for all. Plus in summer league his teammates were rookies, second year and d league players not players who would actually be playing in the season. I really believe in a set offense playing with guys like Wes and Batum and Aldridge etc. who will be better than what he showed at summer league. As for Lillard, sure he has problems with double teams, but it seems like he gets Wes, Batum, and Aldridge a lot of high quality or open shots, which he could do the same for Wright. Mo does not. Also correct me if I'm wrong; but the game where Wright made 5 three three-pointers I think Lillard was the guy who got the majority of those assists. (I think it was against Philly.)
He didn't have the court vision or decision making in SL to make an impact PG. He got caught off his feet with nobody to pass to and would often dribble into traffic for a bonehead turnover. He's got a lot of upside, but he's not ready for a ton of minutes running the point for a winning team. Philly didn't double Lillard that game much and they paid the price.
That's not the point. The point is Wright had made those threes because Lillard and NOT Mo was the guy passing him the ball. That is all I'm trying to say.
CJ had no one to pass to. You are forgetting that he had Claver, Leonard, Barton, T. Rob, Crabbe and Freeland. How many of those players earned minutes this season?
DW: 5.1 PPG (13 PPG per/36) | 39 FG% | 37 3PT% | 11.5 PER | 109 DRtg | 14 MPG LB: 3.9 PPG (12 PPG per/36) | 37 FG% | 35 3PT% | 9.4 PER | 109 DRtg | 12 MPG Not a ton of difference between Wright and Babbitt so far.
I'm simmering on Wright. Give Crabbe some burn. I've always liked that guy. He'll make it rain better than Wright and has upside.
