There is nothing the Ducks have prospect or defenseman wise I would want in return for Girardi. Etem to me is another Brendl is waiting. The Ducks win because they have a great first line and a really good coach. I don't think that team is all that talented.

If they do move Girardi I still think the 3 best fits would be Boston, Detroit and probably the Oilers if he agreed to sign there. I think he would absolutely sign with Boston and Detroit.

The general view from most of the other moron fan bases is that they shouldn't pay much for a rental. Fail. You will pay the same amount for a UFA as you would for one that isn't. It's your job as the team that trades for that player to sign that player. If you don't, your incompetent. Use some common sense. Talk to the player before the deal if they would sign with you. It's not that complicated.

As far as MDZ. I'm starting to think this relationship is beyond repair. That and the fact that AV called Allen one of their best defenseman in that game tells me he is convinced that MDZ doesn't fit his system. I don't think he hates Del Zotto. I just think he doesn't believe he is a match for what he wants to do.

Yeah, MDZ and AV don't mix. I have only been telling you that for weeks now...:).

As for Girardi, I hear you, but I have to admit it would bother me to see him in Boston for the next few seasons. That team is already tough, and adding Girardi would make them even tougher. If they pay the price to us in a trade we have to pull the trigger, but I wouldn't love him there.

I will say this about Girardi, IMO we only deal him if we get a HR offer OR he wants a massive new contract. Outside of those two things happening I keep him and re-sign him to a new deal. I don't deal him for just a decent/solid return. It must be a HR deal for us to move Girardi IMO.

I don't think MDZ and AV don't match. I think MDZ and the system don't match. AV is not confrontational like Torts. He doesn't just start hating a player. It's not his personality. I think AV really was desperate for MDZ to grasp his system and play well. He's frustrated that he can't do it.

Av should change his system to benefit the player he has, great coaches find a way to get the best out of their players.. Remember this kif was a budding start lol

You don't change the system. He had a lot of success in Vancouver with it. If Luongo showed up half the time in the playoffs, they might have won a cup. MDZ is just dumb. It's not AV's system.

Doesn't help us that the Flyers keep winning. Scoring big late goals, and winning in SO's. Losing to the Caps twice recently also hurt us.

The Flyers have no defenseman worth crap and they are winning. That pretty much sums up the state of this team. I think Allen is going to be a real gem for us. He's smart. Unlike Del Zotto who is very dumb. Allen should fit into this system very well.

Sorry guys. I do not think MDZ is dumb. He just thinks too much.
He is always tentative in key situations. He just is not playing with
    any authority.

On the bright side Allen has looked ok so far.

I don't think MDZ is too smart either. I do think nothing comes naturally to him right now since there is so much going on and he is over thinking it, but you can be a dumb hockey player, and think too much at the same time. His confidence is shot. AV and Sather have done an awful job handling him. He hasn't helped because he has played very poorly when he has played, for whatever reason, but those two have done a terrible job with DZ.

He should have been traded WEEKS ago. Holding onto him looking for this bigger package made zero sense if you were going to scratch him, and you know he will be scratched again Friday. There is also no shot we re-sign him this summer in my humble opinion, so again just trade the kid. Package him with a mid prospect, and maybe a mid pick for a solid scorer. With 8 dmen now we clearly can afford to deal him, double so when you factor in how he has struggled. Enough is enough already Sather, just get it done.

Can't understand why they just insist on trading him for a dman. Looking at the same problem year after year. We are not scoring. Get some help on offense.

If theyre going to make a real playoff push they need a dman who can shoot. Maybe they can get a vet with an expiring contract and a decent prospect for DZ.

I'm with Chuck on this. He has clearly lost his confidence and his head is screwed up. Not trusting his instincts. Doubt he can get that back under AV. I've always liked him but he needs a fresh start somewhere else.

If Ottawa offered a healthy Corvo and a prospect like Puempel I'd do it at this point. Corvo has enough offense even at 38 to help a team get into the playoffs.

Sather will handle this in the same stubborn manner he handles our rfa's. He will not give in and trade del z till he gets at least what he thinks his value is. The fact that he doesn't fit into av's system will not force sather to give a team that system he does fit into a discount.

Right, and when no one meets that price we let him walk this summer for nothing after lowering his value all season...:). We could have gotten a better trade this past summer, or 6 weeks ago.

Agree chuck but now that ship is sailed. Starting to think del z will be with us till the trade deadline.
