Oh defense, I miss you. And not just launching 3s.

100% the issue. This defense is really a problem.

The last 4 games it's been awful. I'm talking terribly awful, that even a pig wouldn't eat. I want our team to have more pride than that.

Its actually keeping me up at night. I spent 2 hours in bed just foaming over the D from last nights game.

    Halftime:

    • Batum just got outscored 22-0 in the first half to go with 2 rebs, 3 assists and 3 TOs. This is the frustrating Nic that takes long portions of the game off.
    • LA started off hot but finished 1-5. 3-19 from '3' which is Portland's bread and butter.
    • Leonard has the only 2 points off the bench as they get outscored 14-2.
    • Out-rebounded 28-21.

Feels like we are lucky to only be down 12.

Just between you and me, I still wish we would have drafted Jeremy Lamb instead on Meyers Leonard.

Another layup line for the opposing team. Shocker.

There is prob a lot of overthinking and questioning going on. Confidence is shaken. They need a come from behind victory to get themselves back on track!

The fact they're only down 12 seems like a miracle.

I admire Stotts sticking to his defensive philosophy....but what happens when that philosophy is getting you constantly shit on defensively? I'm not asking him to change his philosophy completely, but at least mix it up a bit to throw off the other team. Throw some doubles at Durant, implement some traps when you're down, etc. etc. You aren't going to win games against the Thunder by allowing Durant to go 1v1 every time he catches the ball.

It's not an either/or - both are an issue. We could more easily survive our perimeter-oriented offense if we had good defense. Or we could more easily survive our poor defense if we had more variety in the offense. Both would be ideal.

Especially when Westbrook isn't in the game. You double the shit out of Durant and force the rest of the team to win it for you. Of course they will score, but score more efficiently than Durant going one on one?

We have the number one offense in the league shooting jumpers. I'm not sure how much more efficient you want them to be.

I'm actually not to worried at the moment, down 12 at half but I liked the movement and the way the offense is providing open looks we just aren't hitting them. If we start hitting them it'll be a different game. If we keep missing them then we lose because our D sucks ass and can't make up for our offense sucking. Losing games vs teams that are at best a toss up doesn't bother me, now if we lost to the bobcasts i'd be pissed beyond belief.

just spitballing, but maybe efficient enough to cover one of the worst defenses in the league? :dunno:
