I thought he would be a solid acquisition and certainly came for cheap but his has mostly turned out to be very Babbitt-esque in that he is a 3-pt specialist who isn't hitting shots. In his last 10 games he is shooting 12-39 (.307) from the field and 8-29 (.276) from '3'. If he were doing other things well, that might be easier to overlook but his defense has been quite suspect and his rebounding nothing short of abysmal at times in terms of letting his man run straight to the rim unimpeded. With shooting so poor for an extended amount of time, it seems time to let someone else have a shot to see if they can contribute at least something more positive. Whether that is Barton, Crabbe or Claver, at this point it couldn't be much worse.
I think the Blazers role for Dorell isn't big enough for him. Wright really needs to be on a team where he can shine and be a larger part of the team. I'm not ready to say he sucks on the NBA level yet I'm afraid he just doesn't fit with the Blazers. If you take a look at minutes played he's only playing 13.6 minutes a game. The season's he's done fairly well in are the season's he has played 20+ and he's not going to get that in Portland.
Dorell Wright sucks. I noticed this a long time ago. If he had talent, why didn't he earn more than a measly 2 mil a year? I also vote for giving Claver a chance.
He's clearly a spot up shooter because almost all of his makes are from corner threes. Running him off screens would do nothing because he doesn't seem to shoot well on the move.
I nominate the person from RC2 who complains the most about Wright, to take his minutes. Try outs start immediately. Bring your A game.
I could probably come in for 5-10 minutes a game and miss shots if the Blazers want to pay me a couple million. Hell, who am I kidding, I'd do it for free.
So, if I follow your logic, the only people qualified to criticize the performance of professional basketball players are OTHER professional basketball players?
First, if this was your try out, and you brought your A game, you didn't make the cut. That was a horrible criticism of Wright. Second, are you a professional basketball player? If you aren't, then the answer to your question is "no." This try out is open to any an all individuals. I find these kind of tryouts get right to the root of what people are really screaming about, so at least we can all understand each other.
CJ can't play SF. Either Crabbe or Claver should get all of Wright's minutes at this point. We've given him enough time to try to find his role with the team, and he hasn't. Time to move on to another player to see if we can get more out of our bench. I feel very comfortable with either Crabbe or Claver being, at worst, Wright's equal. I suspect that Crabbe would easily be a better offensive player and Claver would easily be a better defensive player.
Wesley can play SF with CJ at SG. He'd be better than Crabbe and Claver for damn sure. Sent from my banana using Tapatalk 4
So you want to play all the guys that do not play for a win now team. With the guys we have playing the team is 26-8. Hell of a plan!
Always room for improvement! The wins against DET/CLE started to show some chinks in our armor, which have continued to be present. It is folly to think that today's success is guaranteed tomorrow. And no, I'm not suggesting "to play all the guys that do not play". I'm suggesting that ONE of them take the minutes from our least effective player.
I was thinking about this alot. I actually think Matthews can play SF vs. other back-ups; giving more time to CJ. If we cut Dame's SG minutes and Wright as well, all the current players would be getting close to their minutes, while giving CJ a good 15 minutes per game.
