The one position we truly need

Mo Williams is averaging 4.9 APG. By way of comparison, the Spurs get 1.5 APG from Patty Mills, the Thunder get 3.7 APG from Reggie Jackson, and the Pacers get 1.9 APG from CJ Watson. Norris Cole brings 3.2 APG to the Heat. I'd say Mo's distributing the ball better than backup PGs on other contending teams. When you consider that Batum contributes 5.3 APG, the Blazers have way more distributors than their competition. Mo can get off the rails on offense at times, but I think that he's doing a pretty fair job overall. Oh, and BTW, if you're looking for a pure distributor at the PG spot, Earl Watson still does that pretty well.

 

Patty Mills plays 16.7 mpg
Reggie Jackson plays 25 mpg but he's currently their starter.
CJ Watson plays 19 mpg
Mo plays 24 mpg

Mo also averages 2.2 turnovers per game
Patty averages 0.7 turnovers
CJ Watson averages 0.9 turnovers
Reggie Jackson averages 2 turnovers

 

I thought the comment was that the Blazers needed a pure distributor. My point is that the Blazers have plenty of play-makers. Mo makes more turnovers than I'd like and I find myself yelling at the TV a lot when he's in there, but lack of ball distribution isn't an issue.

 

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring here and say we don't need anybody...we need experience for the players we have that have not been Blazers for long or played in Stotts system for long. We are headed in the right direction which is team first. If we look at our success this season, the only weakness is defense in the paint and for that, we might want to look at an elite defensive coordinator on the bench but this roster as is can contend...Barton put up 10 pts in about 6 minutes the other night. We have players to fill holes or shore up the rotations when someone is off the mark. I say stand pat and watch what our bench can actually do when they are on the court long enough to break a sweat. The worst player on our bench is a valuable NBA player...this is not LAST season folks!

 

If Mo continues to work within the offense instead of going it alone, and CJ is able to contribute as well, and our bench front court guys continue to improve, and Wright finds his shot, I agree, we don't need to make any moves. I know that's a lot of ifs, but all of them are reasonable IMO, and I expect all of them to occur in time for the playoffs. It's good we have a long season to get a few issues ironed out.

 

If Mo gets aggressive to score, he's a chucker but then the same people say our bench doesn't score enough. Mo has to score when he comes into the game. Stotts has already called Mo the best backup PG in the league. We should stop bitching about him.

I don't now why you need me to answer that question. We could come up with several possibilities but I bet you can too.

 

I say this in sound mind and body:

I want Sergio back. He is MUCH better. When we had him his D and his Outside shot was lacking.

His outside shot has vastly improved and his D isn't any worse than Mo's.

 

I would take most of our backup PGs back. Patty, Sergio, Jack to name a few.
