I felt so much better about our defense when Allen was on the team. Stralman is the most overrated player by our fan base. I'd much rather have Del Zotto out there. Though, I wonder why somebody on our coaching staff hasn't figured out why MDZ can't take a pass without it bouncing over his stick.

I have to ask dump, who the hell overrates Stralman? I guess I missed where anyone says he is more than a 3rd pair whatever dman. That's what he is. That's what he has always been. Not sure I have seen anyone, maybe a one off here or there, say he is anything more than that.

Most overrated player by our fanbase? I don't see it. He is what he is. A whatever 3rd pair dman.

Please. Other chat boards have been sucking off Stralman for over 2 years now. Constantly stating he should be in our top 4. You're not paying attention. He should be the first one gone. I'm pretty sure Sather could get a 2 and 4 for him.

Other chat boards. Okay, I can't comment on that. In here I don't see it at all. I don't recall anyone saying Stralman is anything more than what I wrote.

If we can get a 2 and 4 for him, we should do that right now. Not sure we can get that much, but I think he is one of the most likely guys to be moved as we move forward since it is very doubtful we re-sign him this summer.

McIlrath skated yesterday with no ill effects. Lets get him back up here soon.

Yet another reason we should look to deal Stralman, and I now think we should deal Girardi for sure as well (assuming we can get a big package for him) as we get closer to the trade DL. And the same goes for MDZ, assuming we can get a solid return. Double so if we don't think we'll re-sign him this summer.

You have to figure McIlrath plays up here from day one next season. Allen could be a nice 3rd pair guy. And then we must sign a big, physical, crease clearing dman this summer. That is a 100% must IMO. McIlrath won't be ready to go in that role solo next season.

McIlrath and Allen as the 3rd pair. McDonagh and the dman we sign as the 1st pair. Moore and Staal as the 2nd pair. Pretty solid assuming Staal is healthy, Moore takes strides forward, and McIlrath is ready to be on the big club from day one next season.

I love the fact that Kreider is developing that bully mentality. He knows these other players are small bitches compared to him. Would like to see him take some boxing lessons in the off-season and add a little more intimidation to his game. I think Miller will develop that same attitude soon. McIlrath is all about intimidation. He should be up and playing every day.

I liked Allen since the pre-season. We need a tough, stay at home defenseman like him and McIlrath.

Good find prodigy. I've been searching and couldn't find anything on big mac. As soon as he's healthy to go I hope they get his big ass up here and get the growing pains over with.

Dump, I was thinking about the boxing lessons also but the negative on that now that most players are wearing the shields we don't need him breaking a hand on one of these shields. I'm happy for now with him just knocking the crap out of people on the boards and if anyone challenges him just having him throw them down on their ass like he did phaneuf

Dont know about boxing lessons but agree with Dump that it is GREAT to see the mean streak that Kreider is developing.

All the great power forwards had a mean streak. Kreider obviously isnt the same level as a Shanahan or a Messier but their attitude, mean streak and willingness to play tough physical, stick up for your teammates hockey is also what made them great.

I can live with plays like last night which was a borderline call anyway. The mean streak is there and he will get bigger and stronger too

Freaking awesome. Now work on the accuracy of your great shot CK ;-)

The great thing is Kreider is only now realizing he's bigger, strong and faster than just about any player in the league. There is no player in the league his size that can skate that fast. He's going to get a lot better. Having Kreider smash people around is all the more reason we need McIlrath up here to police idiots on other teams. For example, if he played last night, he most likely would have pummeled Dubinsky.

Yeah I dont think he will be suspended either. The game misconduct was kinda ridiculous

More likely the rangers are asking the league to rescind the game misconduct as we speak

I read somewhere, either Brooks or TSN, Shanahan is not even looking at it and the Rangers will probably ask to have the misconduct rescinded.

Sam and Joe constantly rave about Anton's "steadiness" whatever that means. It's kind of like describing a woman as having a great personality. Pathetic non-effort by Anton on the 2nd BJ goal, AV needs to scratch him permanently. There are no positives to Stralman's game, I'd be shocked if Glen could get a broken glove dryer for him in a trade.

Kreider was slowing down when he hit Tyutin and the contact was under Fedor's arm, it looked like he turned to draw the penalty and didn't realize what a house CK is.

Should not have been a penalty, but Kreider is showing what a physical monster he is becoming. Most of the force of that hit came from his arm. That and how he handled Phaneuf was really impressive.

At this point I don't see Allen as much of an upgrade over Stralman. Allen really wasn't all that impressive - he's young and needs seasoning.
