While they acknowledge that a trade may be difficult to pull off, the New York Knicks in recent days began exploring the potential market for guard J.R. Smith, ESPN.com has learned.

Sources close to the situation said Wednesday that the organization has become increasingly frustrated with Smith's on- and off-the-court transgressions and may feel that a fresh start would be best for all parties.

It's their own fault, and just is another example of how stupid this organization is. They ignored Smith's antics in the playoffs last year, they lucked out and were able to draft THJ in the 1st round (thus, with Shump, giving them 2 young players in that spot), and STILL gave Smith a contract, when they should have just cut ties.

If the dumbass plays really well for the next 20 games after the league made him look like a tool, they might be able to trade him for a late first to a team that thinks he can help or replace somebody that got hurt for them.
