As every Maverick knows, the roster is pretty much set 1-14. That 15th spot is still up for grabs though. I decided I'll post game stats for the preseason for the four players here. I think it'll help everyone know who has been playing well and who hasn't. Game 1-HornetsNdudi Ebi-DNPDarius Washington-Min-9, FG-2/5, FT-0/0, 3P-0/1,Reb-0,Ast-0,Stl-0,Blk-0,TO-1,Pts-4 Jose Barea- Min-24, FG-3/6,FT-2/2, 3P-0/2,Reb-4,Ast-7,Stl-0,Blk-0,TO-3,Pts-8Pat Carroll-DNPGame 2-KingsNdudi Ebi- Min-15,FG-5/10,FT-0/1,3P-0/1,Reb-5,Ast-2,Stl-0,Blk-0,TO-3,Pts-10Darius Washington-DNPJose Barea- Min-19, FG-1/3,FT-5/5, 3P-0/1,Reb-2,Ast-5,Stl-2,Blk-0,TO-3,Pts-7Pat Carroll- Min-15, FG-2/5, FT-0/0, 3P-1/3,Reb-1,Ast-0,Stl-0,Blk-0,TO-0,Pts-5Game 3-BucksNdudi Ebi- Min-19,FG-1/6,FT-1/2,3P-0/0,Reb-1,Ast-2,Stl-2,Blk-2,TO-1,Pts-3Darius Washington-Min- 8, FG-1/3, FT-4/5, 3P-0/2,Reb-1,Ast-2,Stl-0,Blk-0,TO-2,Pts-6Jose Barea- Min-34, FG-3/15,FT-5/5, 3P-2/4,Reb-3,Ast-3,Stl-0,Blk-0,TO-4,Pts-13Pat Carroll- Min-3, FG-0/1, FT-0/0, 3P-0/0,Reb-0,Ast-0,Stl-0,Blk-0,TO-0,Pts-0From this point right now it looks like Barea is playing his way into that 15th spot. he's shot free throws well, and has put up pretty good assist numbers considering the field goal percentage the team is shooting. in 3 games the Mavericks are 84-226 from the field. Thats 37.2% from the field. I think him getting 5 assists a game is pretty good considering that. Ebi is playing okay as well. I think Carroll is the odd man out since he isn't really getting the playing time. Also, one draw back on keeping Ebi is the fact we can't play him in the d-league since he's been the league 3 years. If we kept him, he'd just sit. Barea, Carroll, and Washington could all play in the d-league since they are all rookies. I'll post the other game stats once they are played.

I'm thinking Barea as well. He seems to be consistent and received good praise from Avery and the staff. Plus he can go to D-League, which is what I feel is needed at the 15 spot player wise. He won't get much time here and D-League is perfect for him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Mavs announced today that they have waived guard Pat Carroll. Carroll played in two of the Mavericks preseason games and averaged 2.5 points and 0.5 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game.</div> Per Fish, so you can scratch one of the 4 participants trying to attain the last spot. No surprize I think here with Carroll being the first casualty.

Game 4 RocketsEbi- 22MIN,2-6FG, 3-4FT, 6REB, 1AST, 1STL, 3BLK,3TO, 7PTSWashington-19MIN, 1-6FG, 1-2FT , 3REB, 1AST, 1STL, 0BLK, 2TO, 3PTSBarea- 12MIN, 1-4FG, 1-2FT, 0REB, 2AST, 0STL, 0BLK, 2TO, 4PTSNow in this last game, not one of them separated themselves from the pack, but I think Washington's play has been the worst of the 3. Although not one of them has had a superb game, Washington hasn't even had an okay game like Ebi and Barea have had. Next game is tomorrow against the Bucks.

    Game 5 BucksNo one really got a ton of playing time with the return of Dirk, Harris, George, and Buckner.Ebi-4Min, 2/4FG, 0/0FT, 1Reb, 1Ast, 0Stl, 0Blk, 0TO, 4PtsWashington-2Min, 0/0FG, 0/0FT, 1Reb, 0Ast, 0Stl, 0Blk, 0TO, 0PtsBarea-10Min, 0/2FG, 0/0FT, 2Reb, 1Ast, 0Stl, 0Blk, 1TO, 0PtsPretty much still the 2 man race between Barea and Ebi while Washington lurks in the 3rd spot. Next game is against the Wizards on Saturday.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Dallas Mavericks announced they have waived rookie guard Darius Washington. Washington appeared in five games for Dallas and averaged 4.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist. The Mavericks roster now stands at 16.</div> Now it looks like its down to Ebi and Barea. Kind of expected with the play of Washington during the preseason.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Now it looks like its down to Ebi and Barea.</div> Or no one. The one I'm hoping for. I don't think either player is worth keeping to be honest and rather have a open spot in case someone else on a team falls loose(James White maybe?) or a veteran becomes available. Griffin was a similar case last year. Also, I think judging from preseason, I want Ager to see time in the D-League. Since the league only allows 2 players per team to send, having Barea, Pops and Ager causes one player to not get playing time anywhere.

Yeah, that could happen, and you pointed out all the good stuff with it. Last night though, Barea really played a great game. I watched it and it was pretty good for a preseasoner. Croshere,Ebi,Barea,Ager, and Mbenga was the lineup that was out there late in the 4th that brought us back for the win. Ager and Barea did the most of it. Berea had some really great plays while he was out there. Anyways, heres the stats on Barea and Ebi. If Barea has another game like last night, it will really help in his cause. Game 6 WizardsEbi-8Min, 1/2FG, 0/0FT, 1Reb, 0Ast, 0Stl, 1Blk, 0TO, 2PtsBarea-22Min, 2/5FG, 2/2FT, 4Reb, 5Ast, 4Stl, 0Blk, 1TO, 8PtsThe next game is against the Cavs on Wednesday.

<span style="font-family:Book Antiqua">Honestly, the Mavs don't really need 15 players. The team could have 12 players and still be good. However, if anybody does get picked for the 15th spot, it has to be the man, Barea, without a doubt.</span>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Dallas Mavericks announced they have waived forward Ndudi Ebi [EN-dee EE-bee]. Ebi appeared in five preseason games, averaging 5.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.20 blocks in 14.0 minutes per game. The Mavericks roster now stands at 15. Originally the 26th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by Minnesota, Ebi (6-9, 200) appeared in 19 games over two seasons with the Timberwolves. Although he averaged just 0.8 points and 0.2 rebounds in 17 games as a rookie, Ebi played the final two games of 2004-05 for Minnesota and averaged 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds. Last season, Ebi played for the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA D-League. He averaged 11.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 16 games.</div> LinkNiether Ebi or Barea played in last nights win over the Cavs.

What's weird about this announcement, is no mention of Barea either locking up the spot or being waived. I don't mind Barea being our 15th man but that's 4 pgs on our roster. Is it me or is that a tad overzealous. I rather have another big man, preferably a 4.

Chris Taft just got waived by the Warriors. I think he would be ideal to pick up for the 15th spot over Barea imo. Taft can D-League and is a better option to develop at a position of need in a year(when Croshere runs up). The backup 4 spot would be up for grabs between Pops and Taft.
