Sometimes I think this is really a year where everything is lining up perfect for the Blazers. Westbrook won't have enough games to get his timing back, the Spurs don't look good against the elite teams, the LA teams have big injuries, the Rockets have an unbalanced roster.

The Warriors could be for real but they don't have anyone to defend Aldridge. It seems like a golden opportunity this year for the Blazers to make some noise.

If that isn't representative of a team with issues. OKC forces Denver to drive to the rim with the game way out of hand, instead of just letting them hold the ball at the top at half court. smh

The record of the #3 team in the East (ATL at 19-17) wouldn't be good enough to make the playoffs in the West if they started today.

The L*kers, at 14-22 and 13th in the West, would be 0.5 games out of a playoff spot in the East.

It's too bad the NBA can't just have a "best 16 records" for playoffs.

Does every thread need to be about Mo?

That was about Foye not Mo. Or am I just missing the hidden wit?

NOP pick is only top5 protected. Philly could have the best young roster in the league by the summer.

Exactly! He'd definitely help them win these regular season games against lesser competition (although every good team, even at full strength, occasionally loses to a few below .500 opponents - it's a LONG season), but his problem is freezing out Durant in the 4th quarter of close games. Of course, without him, they aren't having many close games - they are getting owned by lesser teams right now.

I thought it was an incredibly cheap shot, unbelievably stupid and totally uncalled for at the time at the time, I'm beginning to see where Metta Wold Peace was coming from. That's a face just begging to be punched.

Jrue Holliday out with fractured ankle.

This whole theory about playing a lot of minutes leads to injury and fatigue is BS IMO. Its more freak occurances and based on a player's own body, not how many minutes they play.

    That team is snake bitten.

    Ryan Anderson.
    Jrue Holiday.

Gordon is always out for one reason or another. So is Davis.

Jrue is on my fantasy team. I have to see it out to see if I need to drop him or not...proably.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Yeah I'd be interested if someone did analysis on this, I tend to suspect they aren't linked either but I really don't know.

I do know overtraining can cause a loss of muscle, built up fatigue on the body, and a loss of performance. So playing players too many minutes can really hurt their effectiveness on the court. Back to back NBA games lead to a weak product that is less enjoyable for fans to watch.

I'd love to see the NBA get rid of some of these games and eliminate tanking. That draft wheel idea sounded crazy at first but now that I've thought about it more I think it would make for a much better product.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

I wonder if the NBA went towards a zero sum system if that would work better. In gaming I've been in groups that utilized a zero sum system to figure out who would get what kinds of cool things dropped in the game. Want that sweet sword? You bid against others for the item, or in this case the player, and then the winner's points end up going into the pool of teams. Smart teams would bid small amounts on players that others overlook. Stupid teams will over-bid on players, and won't have any points to bid when a truly special player comes along.

Just something else that I think would be interesting to consider.
