The Suspension is for 162 games. Does that mean he'll be available if the Yankees make the playoffs? If he is I hope the Yankees do what the Giants did when Melky came back late in the season 2 years back.. They left him off the entire playoff roster.
I hope they make that clear. that it's for the entire season & not just 162 games. But you know what even if it is just 162 games, with no training I don't see the Yankees putting him on the playoff roster anyway.
162 games PLUS playoffs. He's gone until 2015...unless he gets a VERY VERY ambitious and sympathetic judge at the next level - (if it gets that far).
He wouldn't be add he will not be in the active roster by September 1st Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Policy loophole regarding possible arbitration injunction, he could request to attend spring training. He will likely pursue, but the Yanks would send him across the street to the Minor League complex...no cameras allowed, and separate from the team. This was from a Buster Olney interview on ESPN yesterday, take it for what its worth.
It's also being reported that a Japanese team has reached out to him offering to let him play for them so he can keep in shape and be ready for the 2015 season.
I saw that also. Listen they just need to find a way to cut all ties with this clown. Just buy him out & bite the bullet.
I've been going back and reading the articles from last June thru August discussing the void option. Can't take action against a player under contract for violation of drug policy in the CBA. Therefore, even a morals clause is moot, only the Commissioner s office can penalize a player. The only way out of the money would be if he was locked up in court or in prison. Other than that...write a check and be done with it.
The japanese teams respect baseballs suspensions so don't think thats an avenue for him. The long island ducks offerred him a spot
