I would assume any conversation would start with a max extension. The combination of play, durability, and need pretty much warrants it. Would they be able to offer Damian a max extension off his rookie contract if they sign Aldridge to a max extension in the offseason?

I know this isn't likely to happen but would sure love to get Aldrdige for less then max and 1 year less then full length contract. Production naturally drops for guys in their early to mid 30's.

With all that said I want him to stay badly so I wouldn't try to disrespect him. Don't think he is a max player in the NBA but I only think there are 4-5 of those players period so many guys get max who I think shouldn't.

If 23/11 in 37mpg isn't worth a max deal, what is?

He's resigning? Who does he think he is? Barry Sanders?

Why wouldn't Lillard get a max deal? Aldridge getting one doesn't impact what the Blazers can offer Lillard. Luxury tax may be an issue, but that's for Paul Allen to decide.

LA will get maxed out. The only reason why the team isn't talking about it is because they can't sign him until after the season.

Both LA and Dame will get maxed.

My bad, I was thinking of the designated 5 year extension, but that only applies to players coming off their rookie contract.

I think these are even better quotes to say he wants to stay.

I hope to see #12 retired in the rafters. If Aldridge stays here his whole career it's not inconceivable for him to be the #2 blazer of all time. #1 if we win a ring

    Re: Aldridge would resign

As I said this summer, if he'd sign a 4-yr max extension I'd sign him yesterday. LMA doesn't have the type of game that's going to degrade much in the next 5 years or so.

As for Lillard, they actually can't offer it to him until October before his 4th year. That's 20 months from now.

If it's an extension can't he only be extended for three extra years?

    Re: Aldridge would resign

actually, this summer it was only 2 "extra" years. It's basically 4 years maximum, minus any seasons left on your contract.

So starting this summer, he could've extended his contract from ending in June of 2015 to June of 2017. On July 10 this coming summer, he can extend it out to June of 2018 if he/mgmt want.

...agreed, LMA has come a long way! This bodes well for the future, time to put icing on the cake!

He will last like Dirk, so no worries about his age, I suspect he still has 8 years at his current level or better.

Yeah we'll wait until the summer to talk about any extensions because they can be for an extra year then.

    Re: Aldridge would resign

An LMA extension isn't very interesting because we'll just offer him the max.

It will be interesting what we do with Lopez and Wes. Do we give them extensions? The way they're playing they'll be in line for $10+ million a year and that's when luxury tax becomes an issue.
