Dwight Jaynes vs Mo Williams, the war is on!

Agree, CJ is going to be 6th man next year and make Mo expendable. If MO opts out then he is gone. If truly wanted to stay here then he wouldn't opt out and then he would get one more year with this team he loves.

Lopez has moved up to 3rd in the entire NBA in offensive rebounds. I've always believed, and I think in general it is widely accepted, that offensive rebounding is a better barometer for rebounding prowess.

Portland is currently ranked 2nd in the entire NBA in rebounds per game, and 3rd in offensive rebounding. The "Lopez Effect."

 

Intangibles, something these guys like Jaynes never factor in. Mo hits game changing shots all the time, shots that get us back into games. He has a knack for impacting the game in ways stats will never show, same as Rolo...altered shots just don't get stats. If you don't like a player, that's one thing, but if you like a team and a system that's working, that's where I hang out. Scientific method has shown that this TEAM is winning most of their games. Mo changes the tempo when the team gets bogged down. That's exactly what I want from a 6 man coming off the bench. If every individual player on the squad went under the stat microscope night after night we'd blow up the team after every loss. Fire the coach and trade all the starters for draft picks. Been there, done that....find some joy this season, it's been a long time since we've had something this good watch on the court

 

Ginobli and Evans are not a point guards. Jackson and Livingston are no where close to Mo's level. Miller from five years ago comes close. Sessions and Jack are in the conversation but that's about it.

I also don't see how Mo doesn't create shots for others any more than himself. He has a higher assist per 36 minutes than both Lillard and Batum.

 

Totally disagree. Teams have different concepts in how and when they go for offensive rebounds. They can give your opponents fast breaks. Most of the better defensive teams are poor offensive rebounding clubs.

 

I would trade Mo for Reggie Jackson in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, OKC wouldn't even with some other dudes thrown in.

 

Jackson would be a great get... but we would lose that experience that Mo does bring. He does have good mo bad mo... but Jackson could/would be just as frustrating with the learning curve.

McCollum needs to stay healthy, though. He's missed large chunks of his last two seasons of basketball.

On the positive side, Lillard has stayed healthy after letting his foot issues have time to rest.

 

Reggie Jackson shoots 32% from 3, and has fewer assists than Mo Williams. His 23 USG rate scares me. Mo is only at 20.4.

 

Rebounding prowess, not defensive prowess, AND individual rebounding, not team rebounding.

 

And Portland would have the same issue as OKC, and lose the game because he didn't want to give the ball up to Lillard or LA in crunch time.
