It would have made it first down, though. But the Panthers still would have to cross the goal line with a new set of downs. It could have made a difference, but as Papa said, the Niners dominated the line. So it may not have mattered.

I complained during the series, for sure. I don't remember complaining during that game specifically. I don't know if the NBA rigs who they want to win a series, but I definitely think they try to make a good series like the Blazers/Lakers go seven games because they get more money. They also realized back then that the WCF was the true championship because the eastern conference was flat out horrible. We watched the league do virtually the same thing to Sacramento over the next couple years as well. Those playoff series did some serious damage to my opinion of the league.
