With the Yankees, Vernon Wells was a WORSE outfielder than he was hitter.
    A real stumble-bum out there.

...we must have been watching a different player...because defensively, I didn't think Wells was that bad at all.

Very limited range - plenty of "hits" dropped in front of him and to his left and right.

...very limited range?...seriously?...He's about in the middle of the pack in RF. Not sure why you make him out to be some sort of butcher in LF, because he's not.

...in fact, his ability to play the OF competently was his only redeeming quality last year.

He was surehanded with a good enough throwing arm - It's difficult to quantify his limited range except to say he just didn't pass my eyeball test and/or comparing his range stats with the league averages.

..."He was surehanded with a good enough throwing arm - It's difficult to quantify his limited range..."...lol, you could've stopped right there.

...in relation to how bad as he was at the plate last year, how he "a WORSE outfielder than he was hitter"?.

...like I said, for whatever reason, you're making him out to be absolutely horrible defensively...and he wasn't.
