Finally escaping the burbs for the umpteenth time. We've got two places in mind: one on 90th and NE Glisan or one on 50th and NE Killingsworth. Any pro/cons for either area ya'll can think of?

The 90th and Glisan would be my preference. There are tons of amenities to offer near there. Shopping (Gateway, Mall 205), plenty of restaurants to choose from as well as ethnic grocery stores if that interests you. There are two max stations within reasonable distance, as well as two major freeways (84 and 205). There are 3 emergency rooms close by, just in case. Montavilla community center is also close by if you wanna shoot some hoop. Also there is a decent second run movie theater not too far from there as well.

50th and Killingsworth is a lot more residential, but probably much more chill.

HCP's brothers restaurant is on 42nd and Killingworth! 50th is borderline ghetto but it becomes a great neighborhood as the numbers decline, Alberta Arts district is pretty hip these days.

50th and Killingsworth is close to some real cool areas, but it's not the nicest neighborhood. 2 min car ride to the Alberta and Fremont areas which are amazing, but it's kinda' rough over there. My brothers place is up on 46th and Fremont to be exact.

Depends on what stage of your life you are in. If this is your first house, then go for it. Our first house was in a rough part of town, but that's how it goes when you are first starting out. I think the Glisan neighborhood is safer, but the Killingsworth neighborhood is closer to more cool things.

If you look on google maps it almost looks like they made it a city to keep out the churches.

Maywood Park is surrounded by City Bible Church, St Rita Catholic Church, Holy Nativity of Theotokos(???), Faithful Savior Lutheran Church, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Crossroads Christian School.

is a good resource if you want to try to check out the neigborhoods, in regards to crime, sex offenders, etc. Will also show you details on the specific house you are looking at, what additions and remodel permits they've had, any complaints they've had, and how much it was bought and sold for in the past.
