Will he become our most popular player of all time?
I think he will become not exactly the most popular, but maybe the most well known, as if he continues, he will problay be the greatest player ever to don a Lakers jersey.
I don't see it happening. Think about it. Jerry West was one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball. He was with the Lakers only for over a decade, and helped them win their first championship in LA. Then he retires, and becomes one of the best GM's in NBA history. Kobe wouldn't even be a Laker if it weren't for West. Then there's Magic, who led the team to 5 championships, and has been in the organization since retirement.Kobe has a long way to go before he can become Mr. Laker. Not only would he have to win a few more chips as a player, he would have to do something in the organization after he retires.
Right now he's the most known considering all the kids who only know Kobe, Wade and LeBron... more people on earth know Kobe more then they know Jerry West, Magic, Kareem, etc.Maybe by the end of his career, if he happens to replace MJ on the GOAT list, then maybe. But he's got to prove himself in his career
He'll be considered "Mr. Laker" by casual basketball fans.. You know? The ones who only know current superstars, instead of past legends, other than Michael Jordan.
