What's something in regards to the Blazers that you were wrong about? This is the place to post it so you can wash away your Blazer sins and hopefully people can forgive and forget. The Rules: No arguing. No accosting. This is a place to confess your mistakes as a fan and hopefully people can accept it and move on. The punishment: Next person who posts doles it out. (Example - say 100 "Rip City's" or something along those lines.) I'll start. I never thought Aldridge could be this good. It's amazing to me that he's in the MVP discussion. His numbers have been extremely impressive this year, especially his rebounding and blocked shots. He's playing out of his mind. I was wrong. Also, this one was a lesser known sin, but I was against drafting CJ at first. I didn't want to duplicate Lillard, but I got on the bandwagon eventually right around draft time. I was wrong about CJ and I'm excited about having him on our team. I don't think he duplicates Lillard at all. They seem like very different players.
I was wrong about Greg Oden. I was also wrong about Terry Stotts. Even after last season I was pretty meh about him. He has our offense HUMMING at all time levels.
Yeah, I'm guilty of the Stotts one as well. I figured he was just a place holder until we could find someone better. Oden fooled us all
I had NO idea Robin Lopez was this good. Was kind of bummed we had to include Withey in the trade for him... While I still think Withey could become a Joel Freeland type solid (backup) Center, The Lopez trade turned out to be an amazing steal!
This. I was disappointed we dealt Withey, if for no other reason than I thought it might help T-Rob. But.... I did want to sign Lopez last year after missing out on Hibbert. Clearly though, Withey can't hold Lopez's jock.
I didn't think Lillard would ever wear a headband. Mike Tokito @mtokito 2m Since some fans seem to like this sort of detail: Damian Lillard is wearing a headband at #Blazers practice. That is all.
I thought we'd get good Mo, not bad Mo. (There's still time.) I thought Greg Oden would get healthy and lead us to the promised land. (Father time has spoken.)
I didn't think Lillard would improve this season. I harbored a fear that he had hit his ceiling as a rookie. I hid it well, but some of my threads betrayed my thinking.
I predicted our team would finish at 41-41 before the season started. I am ecstatic that I was horribly wrong with that prediction (so far)! They should have more than 41 wins by season's end.
I didn't think LMA would improve this much. I didn't think our coach/offense would be this good. I predicted 47 wins which I'm sure they will surpass. I didn't think Freeland would ever be as good as he is now. I thought Meyers Leonard would be in the rotation. I thought we'd be a better defensive team with Lopez in the fold. I didn't think Lopez would help our offense as much as he has. ...
I also saw this team as a potential 45 win max team, and while I have yet to be proven wrong officially, I am willing admit this team was better than what I gave them credit for regardless of how their final record ends up.
I thought Blazer's Edge was THE place for Blazer fans to be for sharing informed opinions about the Blazers. Totally fked that up. I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize... to myself, for thinking the moderators/admins were anything more than nonathletic boobs who believed: LA would be gone, Wes would be traded, Lopez would suck, and the Blazers would turn the ball over a ridiculous amount, not improve rebounding over last season, and of course, miss the play-offs. I'm gonna need a Twix to make my apology to myself official. Mmmmm, so good for me.
I thought that Webster was going to be an all-star, and that Jarrett Jack was going to be our best PG since Porter (I adopted the handle JarretPorter on O-Live when I first joined that site, before I came over here) I thought Bayless was far better than Westbrook, and was certain we had a major steal. I thought the Miller for Felton trade was a good deal (except for skipping over Faried). I also thought Nolan Smith was absolutely an NBA ready-player. I thought Marshall at 11 would make more sense than Lillard at 6. Basically, I can't evaluate point guards. At all. Even a little bit.
Oh man.... Bayless.... I thought that guy was going to be a star after watching him in the SL. Also, I still think Martell has one of the prettiest strokes in the NBA. His problem was all mental.
I forgot about Bayless - I thought he was going to be a major stud. I liked the Felton deal until I saw video of him playing ball during the lockout. He looked huge.
It's why I don't make predictions. lol It's easier to not be wrong if one doesn't make predictions, which would otherwise be argued vociferously as to why they believe their prediction to be true.
