Love the recognition, but that's to much basketball for our star IMO.

Seems interesting that PG might be the deepest position right now yet Lillard probably makes the team and LMA won't likely be on it.

A lot of that of course is LMA getting hurt in years' past and turning down opportunities due to other commitments. Still, you would think the best PF in the game would be approached.

I've been toying around with the idea of going to the FIBA world championships. Would love him on the world stage.

Represent LILLARD all day. I haven't supported team USA bc I didn't like any of the players on it

This will destroy the chemistry between Lillard, Batum, Freeland and Claver.

Great news - just hope he isn't worn out, what with his NBA season going into June and then heading overseas.

Dammit. Good for him if he wants to do it, Dammit for us. International basketball is a farce.

On the one hand, this will help Lillard's star status immensely, and by proxy will help the team.

On the other hand, I'm concerned this could put him at risk for injury.

Let's hope he doesn't get this big:

I'm concerned that he'll never learn to play defense!

That's just because you root for the Blazers.

Honestly though, he'd probably be playing pick-up games and doing other high impact training. If he was a lot older or had an extensive history of injuries I'd be more concerned, but he's young enough and (apparently?) healthy enough that I don't think he's putting himself at any great risk.

He'll learn more about defense during Team USA practices and games under Coach K than he would by playing pick-up ball in the Bay area or LA.

If this is true, it's great news for Damian, in terms of being able to practice with and against other elite players, and for the Blazers, because of the pressure that Durant (and LBJ, if he plays) put on their teammates to play defense. Hopefully Kobe Bryant works out with the team, too, because he had a big impact on the 2012 gold medal team.

None of Rose, Kobe, Westbrook, CP3 played ball over the summer and all have major injuries.

I don't think health is a problem for USA players. They don't play guys many minutes and they have a huge rotation. Its worse for the other countries because stars like Dirk, Yao, or Pau would have to carry a team with major minutes every night and it takes a toll on their bodies.

I'm glad Lillard may make the team and think it will really help his game.

Last summer, Lillard was our backup PG to McCollum, but never played. The SL team will need Bost and Karl next time.

Current players who I think will play Summer League.

    Leonard
    Crabbe
    McCollum
    Robinson
    Barton

That's probably it, and with no first-round pick, the team will get its head kicked in unless they sign a bunch of veterans who have no chance of actually making the team.

I was at a Referee camp up in Spokane and I'm reffing this lil' TOUGH #12. (8th grade elite level girls)

"Keep your elbows in when your setting those screens!" I tell her.

On the ensuing play her coach calls a time out. "Time White!" I say as I look over at him. Right to his left I IMMEDIATELY notice, The all time steals/assists leader.

    #12 was his daughter.

So what you're saying is, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Her dad was voted one of the dirtiest players in the league when he still played.

On another hand, he could end up colluding with a couple other young star players to leave Portland and form the next dominant big three. :MARIS61:

If winning SL matters, let's also send Lopez, Freeland, and Wes. I'd say LA, too, but that's just silly.
