With Lopez's outside shot you could possibly play them together for 8 minutes so that would let each guy play 28 minutes. With fouls and the effort they play with that would be a perfect situation.

They both have 2 years left on their contracts, yes Chandler is paid a lot but the Blazers have the room under the luxury tax until then. After that the team might not be able to keep everyone. But if it gets the team closer to a title right now? Well then I think its a good move.

The reason to not do it is if New York is unwilling to trade Chandler for fair value, or if the team values CJ or other players quite a bit more than other teams. I'll trust NeO to be the judge of that.

Man, that's a lot to give up for a guy that's 31 and just coming off an injury.

Honestly, I don't shed many tears for Wright, Leonard, or Claver, but I'd hate to give up Robinson. New York needs to give something else back. Second rounder or something?

    So you would start Chandler?

The guy is a DPOY type, still one of the elite defensive C's in the game. Of course you would start him. I think he needs to play himself more into shape to return to form, though. He's close.

His injury was a broken leg, not one of those career altering knee or ankle type injuries.

Our offense is so smooth with Lopez right now though. Do you turn around and deal Rolo?

Not with Chandler's injury history. I still would argue RoLo starts, just because of the impact on Aldridge. You keep RoLo and hope to get decent minutes out of Chandler to keep him healthy. I would hope Stotts would look at both lineups though. There is a chance that the RoLo factor could be even greater with Chandler.

I hate that guy. Mostly because Joel Przybilla hated him, lol.

    I'd listen to offers.

Chandler would be a fantastic get, but I would bring him in off the bench for 24 minutes a game, playing with the starters quite a bit because he's taking 6 more of Robin's minutes than Freeland/TRob do now. But you have to start Lopez for the rest of the season, and re-evaluate after the championship parade.

I would do Freeland, Leonard, Claver, Wright.

    Dame/Mo
    Wes/CJ
    Nic/Barton?
    LA/TRob
    Rolo/Chandler

Whoever is backing up Nic is kind of unimportant in Stotts's rotation: when Nic comes out, they go three-guard with Mo, CJ, and Wes; or Dame, Mo, and CJ; or Dame, Mo, and Wes). But yeah, Barton is as good as Wright practically speaking. Basically, Wes or CJ back up Nic the most.

That's the most I would give up, too. Even then we have less depth at C. If Chandler gets injured, or starts having back spasms, we no longer have anyone to back-up Lopez. For that reason I'd rather roll with Freeland/Leonard. I just don't see the sense in paying $14M for an over-the-hill C, when we don't have any sort of defensive scheme for him to succeed in.

He definitely would come off the bench here this season. Lopez has earned a starting spot and has LaMarcus playing at an MVP level. You don't disrupt that for any player this team can realistically acquire. Lopez has been good defensively, he isn't elite but he is far above average. Lopez has been better on offense than Chandler ever has though, his skillset meshes with our offense and penalizes teams for leaving him open at the free throw line. Chandler would disrupt that spacing and allow teams to cheat off him and double team Aldridge.

I'd love Chandler. He was the defensive anchor on that Dallas championship team. Having him slowly play into shape behind Robin would be ideal. There would certainly be situations where he could finish games over Robin depending on what was happening in the game.
