The British Bulldog He threw down Babbitt which subsequently led to the end of chalupas to then introducing McDonald's. He is so tough it spills over from the court to the corporate level.
A lot of casual NBA fans seem to have the impression that a team like ours without much playoff experience can get intimidated in the postseason. This was obviously true in those three runs with BRoy et al, but I really don't see that happening at all now with the way we're built
Hmm.... the initial Roy team that lost to the Rockets didn't have a 3rd fiddle. LaMarcus and Brandon were studs but nobody else could do crap. We needed Blake or Outlaw or Rudy to help but they couldn't. The Suns series was a mess because we lost Roy a few days before it started. No chance to get the team ready for that type of change so quick. Steve Nash being able to guard Batum really really hurt though. Against the Mavs we had no shooters to penalize double teams. Andre, Gerald and Camby cloggged the offense. It didn't matter in the regular season but when teams can scout and plan defenses then shooters are much more important in the postseason. That is why Andre Miller has never got out of the first round and that is why Stotts wants so many shooters on this roster. Still that was a heck of a series but I think if you put Mo Williams in place of Andre, and play Gerald more of the time with shooters that team would've faired a lot better.
I still smile when I remember that one guy who gave Meyers a shot on one end of the court, then at the very first opportunity Meyers wrapped him up and threw him down WWF style. He got a big-league elbow to the jaw for his trouble, but I loved the fire. The Meyers hatrs of course hated on him for the move, but I loved it. To answer the question, I think Freeland is most like Przybilla in this regard. He won't get ejected if he doesn't have to, but he's not taking any shit.
This almost scares me it's so close to what I was thinking. Worded MUCH more effectively than I could have worded it. Repped.
LaMarcus really took the Houston series to heart; he's way way better out of doubles and when being guarded by pesky smaller players than he was when that greasy euro was guarding him.
Did everyone forget how Leonard threw down Phillys Daniel Orton? True he got knocked out by an elbow in the process, and it looked kinda awkward....but he did it!!
If Stotts was dirty, Leonard is the guy he'd send in to cap a player. he's the combination of useless, dumb, and aggressive.
I felt like Meyers had potential to be a gifted przybilla when I first saw him play last year. He has the intensity, people on here seem to have to hate someone on the team so when good mo shows up all hatred goes to Meyers. With some good coaching and more experience I still have hope for the kid.
Oh man can't believe I forgot this dude
It's interesting. Before this thread, I didn't think much about our teams toughness. Once we start listing the traits of this team, however, we have a shed load of toughness and grit. We play so pretty, our toughness is somewhat masked.
I think Wesley is up there. So is Damian and Robin. I think LA has made improvement in this area But if I'm going to name one Wes Matthews
From the Blazers 109-100 win in San Antonio, the "notes" section of the write-up... Reading this another way, did Robinson break Bonner's nose? Not that I wish injury on any player, but that's pretty Lucas-esque.
Yep. Robinson is a tough dude, too. The Blazers are a tough team. You don't win all the close games the Blazers win without mental toughness, and we've got some guys who will get down when they need to. Even LaMarcus goes into beast mode when we need an offensive rebound in crunch time.
Without a doubt it's T.Rob Dude is built like an NFL linebacker/fullback... ready to kick some ass! Lopez is a nice guy, goofy. Not really an NBA tough guy.
