I can't disagree with that, but Gary Payton is definately up there. Perhaps an honorable mention.

Walt Fraizer is in the top ten. Definately. No doubt, don't even debate that.

What about Scottie Pippen? As far as I know, he should be in a so-called top ten too.

best perimiter defenders of all time:gary payton- nicknamed the glove for a reason, could talk trash about shutting you down - and then actually do itron artest- when he's playing he's the most intense, hard worker ever on the defensive side of the courtMJ - great offensive player + great defensive player = GOAT (greatest of all time)Walt Frazier - could have averaged 10 steals per if he controled the game, but instead he let the game come to himI'm sure there are moreOh Snap - I forgot about Pippen. gotta include him!

the top teir perimiter defenders:S. Moncreif-2 time DPOTYA. Robertson-1 time DPOTY, lead the league in steals a few times if I recall right.M.Jordan- 1 time DPOTY. and his clutch defensive players were probably more important than his clutch offensive plays. infact many times his last second shots wouldn't have come had he not made a big defensive play the previous possesion.G. Payton-They dont call him the glove for nothingW. Frazier-awesome.J. Sloan-the dude was a badass defender back in the day. he was one of the first true defensive stars that wasn't a center.S. Pippen-he may have actually been a better defender than Jordan, but just never got the credit.Second teir defendersR.Artest- he's a great defender, except he gets flustered to easy which does allow for him not to play D every possesion, plus he gets ejected often. and when you not playing you cant help on defense.N.Van Lier- He and Sloan teamed up to make a defensive hell in the backcourt in the early 70s for the Bulls.J. Stockton-the reason the leagues alltime steals leader is here is because he didnt usually take players one-on-one, he perfered help defense.Maurice Cheeks- he was at one time the all-time steals leader.Dennis Johnson-Solid defender who was usually overshaddowed by his teammates.

Oh yeah, Jerry Sloan, that little *ucker was mean.Let's not forget:Wali Jones- he was very tough.Jerry West- Known more for his offense; he was a VERY good and intelligent defender.Michael Cooper-He did guard the perimeter as well as some of the forwards; truely one of the greatest swingmen ever.Oscar Robertson-F*ck the triple-double, that dude could shut you down.Tom Heinsohn-He was great on both ends.
