Now if they can win the super bowl, it just might signal things to come for our Portland Trail Blazers!

Could be the year for Paul Allen.

But he has work cut for him versus Denver. Wilson needs to get better really quick.

The only way PA can make up for this abomination is by winning the nba championship.

Just seems like a geeric term given to their fairl significant home field advantage. I'd say their home record recently afford them a bit of masturbation thinking of themselves?

I was hoping to get that pitcher from Japan.... We need a #3 behind Felix and Kuma... and one more bat to protect Cano. Still can't believe we got Cano. We have a 4-5 year window before he becomes a shell of himself.

The term is generic, sure, but the #12 jerseys and the flags and the rituals are not generic. I can't think of a single of fanbase that does those things. I know plenty of famously loud fanbases, we happen to belong to one in Portland where the Blazers and Timbers are pretty well known for being loud, but do we have 6th man jerseys? Do we have 6th man flags? No. We go to the games, we make a lot of noise, and give all the credit to the players.

Sorry, I'm just annoyed after hearing about Bowman. Sure, it's just a few of the fans, but it's indicative of an entire fanbase in my opinion.

I heard the Cubs offered him $160 million, going to be hard to pry him away from that unless he really wants to be the next Ichiro ha ha. It would still be funny to see the Yankees strike out on their two biggest targets though if he doesn't go there.

It all seems kind of artificial, eh? Kind of like the OKC Thunder to me ironically.

Having Mark Mason say that before every game is not even in the same universe as half the fans wearing #6 jerseys to the game and waiving #6 flags.

The thing is - it isn't indicative of the fan base. The philly thing with santa isn't indicative of a fan base. It's just a few people.

Fair enough. "Rip City" only means the team, right, and not the connection the fanbase and city have with the team?

The Timbers army waves flag of their section number. No, they don't say they're the...what woudl it be, 13th man? I dunno. 14th. But they seem like a pretty self absorbed group. I don't think you can compare football fans, who gear up big time for 10 games a year to basketball teams needing to fill a stadium for 40 night a year. It's just going to breed a different type of fan. Look at "RaiderNation" Same type of shit with a bunch of guys wearing RoadWarrior dress. DawgPound stuff when Cleveland was a worthwhile franchise. Can't compare it to 40 game season of NBA.

Rip City encompasses the team, the city, the fanbase, everything about our team.

The 12th man is entirely about the fanbase. It's the Seahawk fans celebrating being seahawk fans. It has nothing to do with the team on the field.

I think the team did it for the fans. God forbid a team pay homage to their huge home field advantage. Nah.

Timber fans can be just as bad, especially with their entitlement about their connection with the team. I'm sure the owner of the Timbers has one of those "can't live with them, can't live without them" relationships with the Timbers Army, but it's still nothing like what Seattle does with the 12th man.
