True, but I think the opposite is just as true. I can't think that Manning's seen a D this good that often, and especially since he's had the neck problems and lost a bit off his fastball. All of SEA's corners all can catch. Those flutterballs will turn into INTs, not just knockdowns & passes defensed.
...what I can't understand is if this guy really has a degree from Stanford, why does he choose to speak and act like a "gangsta"?...makes no sense.
I'm treading on thin ice here b/c I'm a homer, but what was "gangsta" about his response to Andrews, or to Werter, or to the ESPN crew, or at the podium? He was brash, confident/cocky, destroyed the guy who'd been talking smack all week-- If you thought it was "gangsta" when Ali did it, or when Bird or Jordan did it, or when Deion Sanders did it, or when Johnny Manziell did it, or when Terrell Owens did it, or when Cris Carter did it this morning when talking about the Seahawks WRs, then I understand. But if you didn't, I don't see where the outrage comes from.
...does he articulate himself like like a typical Stanford grad?...yes or no? ...he acted like a punk, period.
Brian, that may be true, but Seattle will be going up against arguably the best QB in the game right now... shattered records this year with that offense (1 of which was having the first team in NFL history to have 5 players with 10 or more TD's (1 rushing, 4 passing))... so, while Denver does have some serious wide receivers AND IMO the greatest QB in the game right now, they haven't gone against one of the better defenses, but of the top 10 defenses as far as points allowed, and they played 3 of the 10. -KC who was tied for 5th they played 2 times, scoring 27 and 35 points (average of 31 pts/game) in weeks 11 and 13 against a team that gave up 305 points all season... so 243 points were against the remaining teams over 14 weeks or an average of 17.36 pts/game I think Denver did significantly better than the average team KC played there... -Indy was 9th gave up 336 points on the season and Denver put up 33 points (in a loss) against them in week 7... so Denver scored 33, the other 15 weeks averaged 20.2 pts/game. Again, Denver scored significantly more than the average team Indy played. -New England was the 10th team of the top 10 and gave up 338 points on the season and Denver put up 31 points in a loss during week 12. so Denver scored 31, the other 15 weeks averaged 20.47 pts/game. Again, Denver scored significantly more than the average team Indy played. But Denver played them again in the Conf championship and put up another 26 points... Look at it in just the post season, Indy scored 22 against NE... Denver did better. Furthermore, Denver's defense held Brady and Belichick in check too... had NE down by 20 before Brady started compiling #'s when the game was already in the bag... Now look at Seattle... look at the teams they played... How many teams did they play that were in the top 10 for scoring on the season??? (1 of the top 10 was Seattle themselves at #8...) #10 New Orleans played 1 time regular season and 1 time post season... that was it... so all the other teams Seattle played were weaker offensively than they were... hell, even the 1 team they played that was in the top 10 was still below them... In comparison, the Broncos played 5 games in the regular season and 1 in the post season against teams in the top 10 in scoring... I just see this game not being close... Denver wins by at least a TD if not more
my point is that he's among the most articulate and intelligent players in the league, has shown so in multiple interviews and multiple segments on shows like First Take and SVP&Ruseillo, and he's getting crap because of a 15 second take after he made the play of his life against people who'd been talking smack since literally the offseason, and who did it again during the week and during the game. The link showed how, within 8 hours of the game, he penned a pretty decent column delineating exactly what he was thinking and gave some context. I don't know that many players would/could have done that.
...uhhh, we''re talking about his behavior in the Erin Andrews and why a supposedly educated man "CHOSE" to relegate himself to acting like a "gansta"...he acted like a punk, plain and simple...and if you were not an admitted "homer" (your words) I seriously doubt you'd be defending him.
Again, he said nothing untrue or vulgar to Andrews. He was literally 60 seconds away from winning the game and sending home the guy who'd talked trash about him all year, all week and all game, and told the truth. The point is, I don't need to defend him. I'm trying to understand why you're attacking. That's all. What did he do that's "gangsta" to Andrews? His words? His volume? His emotion? Help me out here.
Brian, I'm not disputing that he is articulate or intelligent, but come on... he should have been able to keep it in check better... yeah, he made the play of his lifetime, but come on...
Johnny Manzel needs a major ass-kicking & IS a punk. Same goes for Owens. Hell even his own team mates couldn't stand his nonsense. As far as this clown Sherman, he gets in Crabtree's face & makes the choke sign. This is a college grad? what is he 12? And then acting like a lunatic in front of Andrews. Sorry Brian by no way are you going to justify him acting like a raving madman.
I don't need to justify a thing. I'm trying to understand why he's a "classless punk", "gangsta", a "big tool" and a "raving madman" in the eyes of Yankees fans because he said : Fair enough. BTW: He was miked up. He said "good game" to Crabtree and got hit in the face.
Briam c'mon seriously, its not so much what he said but how he said it. Screaming it like someone just beat up his mother. I understand the excitement, really I get that. But damn dude act like a professional. You make a choke sign toward the 49er bench (yeah real class) And then you go off on a personal rant. Sorry but the guys a jerk & needs to grow up.
Its a case of the #1 offense going against the #1 defense. And as far as Manning facing tough defenses, the Chiefs had the 5th best defense in the league & in 2 games Manning threw for 6 TDs & over 700 total yards. It should be a great game but I'm going with my daughters home state of Colorado.
Regarding the others, Ali was brash and cocky from the videos I've seen, but not classless... but before my time, so I haven't seen all his stuff, Bird and Jordan were confident with a little cocky, but not classless... Chris Carter and Deion Sanders were confident and a little brash, Manziell and TO are over the top athletes who were in line with what Sherman did... the biggest issue as far as WHAT he said was both "with a sorry receiver like Crabtree" and "Don’t you open your mouth about the best. Or I’m ma shut it for you real quick." There there was HOW he said it... which was very thuggish... There is being cocky/confident, then there is flat out classless... he specifically called out Crabtree... and the I'm ma shut it for your real quick sounds like a threat.... so, yeah, he is what we called him...
And then there was the choke sign directed at the 49er bench = Classless. So he spoke (screamed) like a thug & his actions toward the 49ers bench was classless. Guilty as charged. End of story.
..."help you out"?...you're obviously beyond help...have you even taken the time to digest what is being said by myself and many others?...nobody said he was vulgar ...instead, it is his behavior that people had a problem with...but you are the only one who is defending him. ...he taunted Crabtree (see penalty)...acted like a thug when interviewed by Andrews...and then lied about what he had said to Crabtree.
