He has made quite clear his desire to pursue a broadcasting career after his playing days are finished.Barber said after his first training camp practice in July that he would consider retiring after this season if the right opportunity presented itself.Ernie Accorsi, the Giants' general manager (who is retiring at season's end), told The Times that he did not want to comment on Barber's retirement plans until he heard them from Barber. "You do not replace Tiki Barber, he's a Hall of Famer," Accorsi said. "You have to go beyond the statistics to completely appreciate him, but I think he qualifies on numbers alone."Barber, who finished second in the NFL with 1,860 rushing yards last season, admitted in July that he got a few offers that interested him this past summer.The former University of Virginia star is the top rusher in Giants' history and has been named to the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons.</div>He's not even that old, but hey, better retiring early and taking less of a toll on his body than late, where he could risk a big injury and not be able to accomplish things outside of football. Terrell Davis and Barry Sanders retired too early too, but their some of the best of all time. If I were Tiki, I wouldn't retire after this year. Wait until Eli is an elite QB and go for the Superbowl.
Re: Tiki Barber expects to Retire after Season's End I hope he stays, I don't want this to be another Barry Sanders cases. The Giants are a good team and Barber gives them a double headed offense. They could be threats on both sides when Eli progresses and gets better.

Better to go out before the knees do, thats what I say. Can't blame a guy for that.

It's better to leave at the top of your game before you start on your decline or get injured and look really bad like Curis Martin....If the Giants look like a Super Bowl contender next year though, he could and should stay for 1 more year.

He has about 3 good years left in him IMO and I think it would be a shame for him to end his career prematurely.

I think he has a couple more good years left after this year.

He's still got enough left in the tank, because those first couple of years with limited play really make a difference no matter the age. Another good example of that is Warrick Dunn. Anyways, even if he retires I think the Giants will be fine with Brandon Jacobs. I see Larry Johnson written all over him.

The few games I have been able to ctach for the Giants they have only used him mostly when they are in touchdown range. Still though the Giants can survive without Tiki. If they lose him they will still have Eli Manning to lead the team and have a good group of Wide Recievers with Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer who has been pretty impressive so far this season.
