Jalen just decomitted from Fresno St today. He's listed 6'8 270, it's my understanding he's mostly played hoops in HS. Heres a video link

no, again they need the more talented guys and not to get hung up on traditional dimensions. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, Oregon had a very solid D that took them to the National Championship game recently anchored by a 6'7 270 lb. converted 2* TE from Idaho named Brandon Bair in the middle. He more then got the job done earning All Pac 10 honors and now plays on Sundays. Poona & Trey look like nice prospects, but they'll be lucky to approach Bair's level of effectiveness in college. Of course it's a lot harder to judge/project talent then recite someone's physical dimensions, lucky for Duck fans their coaches have a proven track record. I expect they'll continue to go after who they think can get the job done regardless of what their height is.

Most likely, anyone that they're currently recruiting for their front 3 plays sparingly next season (if at all) as the two deep is pretty solid. Assuming Talia isn't Redshirted, they've 7 DLine kids in their Junior class, so adding a few project types of Freshman is important so as to be able to help with the transition the following year. I'd guess that they might add up to 3 to the DLine, so I'm doubtful that Jalen's recruitment has much of anything to do with Poona & Trey's. Next recruiting cycle I expect they'll address the DLine with a couple JC kids and 3-4 from HS. Those 7 guys leaving following the 2015 season means a lot of PT will be up for grabs on a traditional powerhouse, so I'm guessing they'll be able to attract some headline talent. I've read that 2015 is supposed to be big on beef... it will be fun to follow what Aiken produces

btw... Trey, Poona & Garnett took OVs to LSU Texas & OU last weekend and all 3 came back raving about those school's chances. It's far from a sure thing that any of the 3 even visit Eugene.

according to Scout, McGraw has eliminated UCLA and is only considering UO & Texas A&M.

My guess is that he's all UO but wants to do the signing day thing. UCLA didn't want to be used like that and dropped him

Well Baker and Jack are good buddies and UCLA has some great medical facilities close by if Baker's mom is sick. McGraw is a mystery to me, he talks of LA as if he is homesick so I'm surprised he has eliminated them and kept college station. On a side note I feel Tony James has been a Duck since weathering the Typhoon in September here against Cal and he's everything Baker is + bigger. The recruits that would have hurt to lose for me would have been Rolls Royce, Jalen Brown, Morgan Mahalak, Tony James and Arrion Springs! Jimmie Swain is a BONUS! I'm happy with what we have without a doubt, if we stopped here I'm fine!

    Wrong again, Stump.

Oregon had like 75 rushing yards in the NC game. LMJ was tackled in the end zone for a safety. Some "big" named Fairley had six tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Auburn easily rushed for almost 4x as many yards as Oregon as Oregon's undersized DL was blown up all game and Auburn's DL stuffed our run game and harassed Thomas all game. Really, the only play that was there on a consistent basis was the quick and short pass.

Bair was out of position in play after play after play. He also struggled against tOSU in the Rose Bowl. How would I know? I had excellent seats for both...did your camera angle catch any of the action away from the ball, because I'm confident Bair was usually nowhere near the ball and he was frequently blown off the line he was supposed to hold. He just didn't have the size...

Oregon needs some size on the DL and considering our 'issues' at MLB, the need for size is even greater.

Stomp, you speak with a lot of authority, but have you even played football or coached? A fellow poster mentions we need size (which is entirely accurate and you can even see who staff are recruiting *hint, size*) and you basically tell him he is wrong with an argument that is based on and resulted in us losing the NC game and part of the reason we lost the first RB. We are losing some big size on the DL this year and need to recruit an anchor or two.

Do you even know that Bair had two tackles (well off the line) in the NC game? That's pretty sad. His performance in the RB was even worse and you can research several articles on Chip Kelly stating that Oregon needed to beef up the DL. But, I'm sure you know more than Chip....

Bair is NOT playing on Sunday, as you claim. He is on a practice squad and had to convert to DE.

I've let a lot slide in here... but the personal attacks are getting old on every side of the argument.. I'm not going to edit them out like Sly does, I will just remove the post. Thanks

I will place this in a thread for everyone to see as well.

Did a quick review of the top DT's that Oregon offered. They average 6'4" and 284#'s and included Clinkscales (315#) who went to KSU.

Stomp, maybe you should call the UO front office and let them know they should stop recruiting size and the traditional DL.

no way, another flailing personal attack showing off a lack of reading comprehension... this sure isn't getting tired. I said that their D got them to the Championship game and made no mention of how they did in it which was the basis of your rant. But since you went there... against the big bad SEC that season Auburn averaged 498 yards of offense and 43 points per game. Against Oregon's "undersized" D, aided by that ridiculous Dyer run they just surpassed their average in total yards at 519, but were held to only 22 points which was less then in any conference game.

Funny that you bring up Nick Fairley though as he pretty much is a perfect example of my point about not getting too hung up on what a kid looks like coming out of HS. If Oregon lands a 3* 255lb Offensive Guard in this next class, who here would be thinking they'd just solved their void at DT?

Back on track from that continued dreck... following his LSU OV last weekend, Trey L has named a leader and it isn't the Tigers. Seems he's really looking forward to his trip out West next weekend :)

In the post you quoted I don't see a personal attack from Targus but you saying he is "showing off a lack of reading comprehension" is a personal attack.

my name is STUMP? Lack of reading comprehension is yet again blasting me for something I didn't say (that Oregon's D dominated in the BCS game). Clearly I'm not against adding traditional sized NTs as Targus also berated me over, as I've expressed hopes for adding several of them many times now. My point to Zalsa was that a superior talent might come in a non-traditional package (as evidenced by Bair & Fairly among others) and basically we've little choice but to trust our coaches and their proven track record of spotting diamonds in the rough. It's pretty clear that Targus has personal issues with me as this sort of nonsense is happening daily

    Hopefully that helps clarify

Oregon has pulled it's OV offer to former Stanford Safety Kirk Tucker. Speculation I'm hearing is that things are coming to a head with Idaho Safety Khalil Oliver

Is there any chance we've not mentioned Alfonso Hampton so no other team will scoop him once we have, or is this kid got some off the field issues that are glaring? His film makes me think Warren Sapp at 6'5......
