http://riveraveblues.com/2014/01/teixeira-acknowledges-still-feeling-stiffness-in-wrist-98781/ Not what I wanted to read..they really don't have a back up plan again for first base do they? Crap title needed to say tex. Stupid auto spell correct.
...there's no reason at this point to think he won't be fine. There's a big difference between post surgery pain and post surgery "stiffness"...and Tex has no pain. Stiffness is expected. He's progressing the way he should be and is on schedule. He looks great and appears to have bulked up a bit and is hitting off a tee from both sides with no pain. ...Tex will contribute in 2014. http://web.yesnetwork.com/media/video.jsp?topic_id=5869378&content_id=31304625
...yeah, I'm not concerned. Bautista's injury was even worse and he's now fine. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...mark-teixeiras-wrist-injury-to-jose-bautistas
And to think that Overbay escaped to Milwaukee on a minor league deal, yep I believe Morales is still out there, come on Cash make a deal.
...Overbay sucks...and Morales is still out there because 1. he already turned down a $14.1 Mil QO 2. he's a Scott Boras client 3. whoever signs him will lose a draft pick ...this would mean the Yanx would likely have to give him a multi year contract and the contract/salary he would garner would be foolish if he ends up being a bench player in the event that Tex is in fact OK. Making him the full time DH doesn't make sense either. ...in the event that Tex cannot play, 1B is not that hard of a position to fill...what I'm saying is that you don't spend that much money on a player like Morales that you may not need.
I was being sarcastic in the case of Overbay, in the case of Morales lack of employment can change ones salary expectations.
...I didn't see any reason to think your Overbay comment was sarcasm, but whatever...I'll take your word for it. ...as far as Morales changing his salary expectations, I wouldn't count on it...like I said, he's a Boras client. And if he does eventually settle for less, he will probably resign with Seattle.
I don't think it was the money so much that he turned down as it was the 1 year deal. I think he's looking for something a little more long term. He made I believe just over 5M last season. So with the reporting day about 1 month away & him still unsigned I think he's probaby go for something like 3 yrs at 30M. BUT......like you said if Tex is okay than Morales would become a 10M bench player.
...yeah, and Morales has said that he likes it in Seattle and wants to stay there...and Justin Smoak ain't gonna cut it at 1B...and I think they may want Hart at DH and keep Morales...who knows? ...Morales made $5 Mil last year and I think he should have accepted the QO which would have been a helluva raise (he would have mave more this year than he has in his whole career combined)...and if he also put up good numbers again this year he might stand a better chance of a longer term deal next year.
having had hand surgery on both of my hands, 6 months is a long time out to still be feeling stiffness...
...yeah, but you don't have to swing a bat. Again, if he were feeling pain it would be a concern...the stiffness will subside the longer he rehabs.
I agree, I've had my right wrist operated on & my left hand & to still be feeling stiffness after 6 months should be a concern & I played on a softball team when my left hand was operated on.
No, but I need dexterity in my hands on a daily basis... I was out of commission as far as work was concerned during my post-surgery recovery... So while I don't swing a bat, I do need to be able to fluidly move my hands and have full capabilities of my hands to do my job...
