It seems like Forbes updates some NBA list every couple of months.

I think 12th is impressive considering we are one of the smaller market teams.

Outliers on the top end distort the distribution. That's why you need to look at the median (we're 12th) rather than mean for a better indication of the true value.

It's similar to real estate prices.

Maybe so but you want to be one of those teams worth over a billion with a large tv contract

Sure, but you're never going to be if not in LA, Boston, NYC. That's not realistic for 24+ franchises.

They play 16 games... you can't compare the two sports when one play 66 more games, diluting the numbers (or spreading them out)... it's more condensed. Just because you play more, doesn't mean you make more, especially if your team isn't marketable (not the LA's and NY's, CHI, etc.) or has a sucky team, or both... again, unless you're LA NY, CHI. They make money regardless of what they do, because the media doesn't care about the team, they only care about the money. See: NFL. Most of the teams actually suck, but since they play so few games, and it's on one day (the majority of it that is...I don't count the outlier games on Monday, or Thursday, as those are just gimmicks anyway)they can pack the rest of the week with hype and bullshit to brainwash and sell. It's pretty much the reason why I have not watched one NFL or CFB game in 3 years. It's not about the game, it's about money.

Then again, you can say that about any of the big sports. If we had no NBA team, I'd never follow it.
