He was an 8 time all-star, 4 time defensive player of the year, And an All NBA Defensive Team 6 times. There's no doubt what kind of impact has had made with his defense/rebounding. Are his credentials good enough to get him on a ballot? Our league is biased towards offensive players... It always has been. I would like to see more defensive players getting the credit they deserve.

I think he's a great player and he should get recognized if even just for his work off the field. It's great to have a player being known for helping others instead of being known for loaded guns. He deserves it.

Yeah, thats good enough credentials to get anyone in the HOF - and like Justice said he's been a huge part of charitable NBA programs...NBA cares, and all that. He deserves it.

He has a better chance than Ben Wallace, but not Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, David Robinson....He'll be overshadowed by the era of great centers.

He may not get in, but he certainly deserves it. On the court and off, he really contributed to the game of basketball.

He might not get it the first time or 2 on the ballot but he'll get in there eventually for sure.

Dikembe Mutombo was an absolute beast. He wasn't the most talented, but he worked so hard. I admire him for what he's done on the court and off the court. He should be a first ballot.

He'll get in without a doubt, the stats Tony gave plus being from Africa and opening up a barrier for not just Africans in NBA, but any international players. And hes a NBA Ambassador, without question he'll get in.

He should make the HOF. Hes about 40-50 blocked shots away from passing Kareem for second all time.

I think he should. I mean, he basically paved the way for African player to come over to the NBA and be known for defense and finishing at the rim. He is one of the greatest defensive players ever, is an ambassador for the game, and an inspiration to African players

I think he does, not only for his efforts on the court, but also his humanitarian nature off the court. He gave/gives a good image for the league, and I think he deserves to be honored for it.

Basketball-Reference.com lists him at .020, which is a 2% probability.Other than that I have no idea, I don't chart HoF really.

Hes a very good player, and one of the better big men of all time, but he never led his team deep in to the playoffs. I think that is something that you need to have honeslty. Not saying its necessary, but for a guy that is mainly a defensive player, it wouldnt hurt. If I had the option, I might vote for him, but im not sure if everybody else would.

Everything has already been said, but I have to agree with it all. He just does so much off the court for the NBA in addition to everything he's accomplished on the floor. Mt. Mutombo gets my vote, he's a great guy and he was an outstanding defensive player in his heyday (and still is a better defensive player than most of our centers in the NBA). He's 7'2'', he was always in great shape, strong as a bull, tough as hell, hustler and a half, great shot blocker in addition to great low post defense, skilled rebounder, and very motivated at all times. He has always been a great locker room guy as well and he just has done so god damn much for the community it's not even funny. I have always loved Dikembe Mutombo, and I do believe he is Hall of Fame worthy.

Beating that great sonics team with his big time underdog Nuggets team showed what he could do in the playoffs. I would vote for him.

I think he'll get in, how can people vote against this guy? He's a humanatarian full and through, not to mention his acalades are definately superb. No ring, but still Dikembe was a defensive powerhouse for so many seasons.

Oh of course. Like WELCOME said, he's a great guy off the court, and that ought to have a factor. But you also can't argue with the best defensive big man ever! I'd take him over big frickin ben anyday.

I'm not sure if he is a lock for the Hall of Fame, but I definitely think he should get in. He was such a dominant center and a great rebounder. Great defender as well. He was really valuable back then and he has done so much things off the court and helped the NBA establish a great name. Hopefully he gets in.

In my mind, a Hall of Famer should be a franchise player. I love Mutombo's skills to death, but I don't think he really, really deserves a place.
