Some really lucky goals today. But how often have they had GREAT shots and goalies make unreal saves. They were due.
Al, the play in the outdoor games stinks. That's just the way it is. No one in here said it was an advantage for us or the Devs, just stating fact. I sure as hell know I wasn't making excuses. Just because we came back and dominated the 2nd doesn't change the fact that the outdoor game conditions are usually poor. With that said it is what it is. So we need to deal with it. I am fine with the outdoor games because it is a good showcase for the league. The NHL needs to stay under control with it though. I think there are 5 outdoor games this season. That is the max I would go. I can see them trying to get cute and adding more and more, and IMO that would be a mistake. Keep it under 5 per season, and go from there. As for the play, the Devs D and Marty fell apart in that period. From our POV be careful with the puck in our own zone, we had a few turnovers due to the bouncing puck. Mistakes are all that can kill us now. And on O just get everything towards the net. Nothing cute in these conditions.
Yeah, the quality of play in outdoor games is crappy. Looks more like a pickup game. As long as we win, who cares.
look there is always going to be something....for years it was the circus giving the rangers a huge disadvantage for the Rangers in terms of scheduling and poor ice quality. It is what it is. Is it perfect..no..but it is equal for both teams. Neither team is run and gun system filled with Bure type players being bogged down. For the type of play both teams go with the ice and weather conditions are not hugely affecting their play.
Just stop Al. You are reading way too deeply into this. I don't care if it is the Rangers, the Devs, the Kings, the Preds, the Stars on and on. The play in these outdoor games is crappy. The conditions in these outdoor games is crappy. Stop making this about the Rangers and Ranger fans making excuses, that has NOTHING to do with it at all. It is what it is for these outdoor games. Marty pulled. Shot to the old ego...LOL.
It's all good, but he keeps spinning it like everyone is making excuses. He doesn't understand that no one is saying we were down, or if we lose we lost due to the conditions. It is just a comment on the overall play and ice conditions in these outdoor games. The play and conditions are poor for these games. That's it. Not excuse or advantage for anyone. Anyway, is what it is. The conditions could help us against the Isles who are a skilled team. Maybe take some of their skill down a level. Plus that is their 1st outdoor game. We have played two in the past few seasons, including in this same stadium today. That should be an edge also.
I still like Clowe as a player. The Devs were INSANE with the deal they gave him, so no way he would have been back, but when healthy I like his game a lot.
there was bitching and moaning about how this is too important of a game to be played in this type of conditions.
I liked that signing when we made it dis. He is up and down, but a solid 3rd line guy with some skill. Can score 12 or so goals.
Clowe is a good player but yeah....Will be interseting to see how many games a year he plays in the next FOUR years AFTER this year.....This is only his 22nd game this year.
But even that Al, and not from me, isn't making an excuse for losing. Some people may feel that way, but that still isn't some one saying we are losing because of the conditions. Both teams play in these crappy conditions. Is what it is. I like the outdoor games within reason. Keep it to 5 MAX per season and I can live. If the NHL gets cute and starts having more and more of these games it will bother me.
The issue isn't just the cap hit or length Al, both of which are too much and the Devs bidding against themselves, the issue is the guy has had many concussions the past two seasons. Scary when on a 5 year deal. I don't see how the Devs didn't bid against themselves for Clowe. Cannot believe another team would have came near that deal. I guess when you are the Devs and no one wants to play for you, that's the kind of deal you need to offer to get players.
