Now that the era of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" has come to a close, I'm seeing lots of discussion above who will take the 9th inning baton from Mo. We'll likely have to wait out ST to have a clear picture. In the meantime, anyone have suggestions for the new closer music? I've always wanted to hear a closer adopt Judas Priest, "The Sentinel"
Have to disagree, I see the Yanks being invested in the selection, as they were with Sandman. You're not getting off this easy Hammer, gimme a song that winds you up. I waiting for 59 to chime in with Frankie Goes to Hollywood's classic 'Relax'....as that is his favorite 9th inning advice, lol!
..first, I think the Yanx need to find someone who actually deserves a song in the first place...I think it was Jeter who suggested Mo come in to "Enter Sandman" and I'm not sure anyone will ever come close to MO's dominance. ...I know Hoffman used it, but I always thought this was a great entry song;
Hoffman was AC/DC Hells Bells. Papsmear used Bell/tolls in Philly. Keith FolksE used "Mother" by Danzig...love that. Don't see Godsmack or Disturbed being used.
Of course, I can roll with the contemporary crowd...Avenged Sevenfold with Hail to the King. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DelhLppPSxY
I stand by it depends.... Players get to pick their songs... as long as a player isn't into hip-hop crap, I could see For Whom the Bell tolls by Metallica or Thunderstruck by AC/DC, or even Welcome to the Jungle by the Guns & Roses ..
Again, you're assumption is flawed. It won't 'depend' because the player isn't going to get to pick the song. No didn't pick his. So you think the Yanks are gonna let the next guy have carte blanche?
...I think we have a ways to go before anyone even comes close to the level of Mo, much less a closer who actually merits an "entry song"...but "Bad to the Bone" would be a good one too.
He is correct that the Yankees picked the song for Mo after having a couple other failed attempts at picking songs.... BUT that was before every batter got to pick their songs (many of which change periodically)
...and I stand corrected, I thought I had read that Jeter picked "Enter Sandman" for MO, but I did some checking and it turns out that it was actually a guy named Michael Luzzi.
That shit would just give the crowd a f'king headache. Hell I was almost getting one & I only listened to about 30 seconds of it. For starters Robertson would have to earn a song. I mean you can't just have something like George Throgoods "Bad to the bone" only to have him walk the bases loaded or give up a game tying home run.
I'd expect the Yanks to play the marketing angle on the closer song. After all there are some very expensive seats that need to be filled after last years abomination. Bad to the Bone, like it. Better than 2013 where we spent too many evenings drinking "1 bourbon, 1 scotch and 1 beer".
