His 4 years of college make him a very fundamentally sound player ready for the NBA now. But his size will make it easy for SG's to post him up and muscle him around.

    All star? No.

    Starter? Maybe.

This is where I'm missing the Roy connection. I didn't watch NBADL, but was CJ finishing with authority. I think one of Roy's best traits was the way he finishes at the rim . . . it was deceptive but Roy had mad hops and if not dunking could finish with his left or right.

Additionally, Roy had the size advantage where he wasn't easily bumped out of control when trying to finish.

Didn't he do it in two summer league games? (One to win, and one to send to OT) Then there was the whole Lehigh-Duke game.

I agree with a lot of your post, but I do think he has the killer instinct like Damian.

I would not think about starting him over Wes for at least another year and a half. But that doesn't mean he can't get more minutes in crunch time depending on the match up.

It is inevitable he will have some growing pains this year, but so far...so good IMO.

forgive bgd, he's trying to be funny and make fun of how some fans (who are called "made" and "up") are unable to trade any blazer players no matter what.

Except McCollum doesn't dribble the air out of the ball like Crawford.

He knows he's not going to out-quick NBA guards. Hence his smooth B-Roy-ish approach. I think he'll be plenty effective with it.

i think cj is going to be one of a kind player. he shown that he needs more minutes, maybe giving mins from 6 to go from 1 and 3rd quarter to 6 mins left in each half, that gives him 24 mins. and let him get the ball more, i am sick of mo now, we need a new energy from our back up pg and that needs to be cj. i see cj as a starter and a borderline all-star but if he continue to develop then easily a all-star

I think this is where some people's "B-Roy light" comes in. No one thinks he's the incarnation of Brandon Roy. As you've pointed out, he's not as big or strong. I bet he's a better outside shooter though. It would be damn hard to be as clutch as Roy, too, so that's unlikely. We'll see.

Let's have CJ get his PER over 10 and his shooting over 44% (or 36% from 3pt) before we put Roy-level expectations on him. He hasn't even had to be scouted at this point, and he still has trouble at times offensively. I really like his shot and his poise, though. He can be a very, very good bench player.

We've seen enough of CJ to see obvious strengths. What we haven't seen is enough of him to begin dwelling on his weaknesses, which is going to happen at some point, largely by the same people overhyping right now.

Someday. I have my doubts it happens this year but we will find out shortly.

Chris Paul/Steph Curry/Kevin Durant/LMA/ LeBron James/Kevin Love/Tony Parker would all be super in a 6th Man role, too. Doesn't mean that's why they're going to get max contracts, or have max contracts, though.

if you loo at his original statement he says damian would be "best suited as a super 6th man."

    that is ludicrous

Hey, Ginobili's been that his entire career and he's been better than Lillard will ever be.

I think most of ya'll are over rating CJ. He's got a nice game, but its not anything to write home about. I see his career being similar to Jarret Jack or Dan Dickau. Generally a good player, but they are a dime a dozen in the NBA.

Big difference between Jack and Dickau. Jarret was 3rd in the 6th man of the year voting last season. I think a lot of us would take that from CJ.
