It'd probably be more epic than the thread here where two S2 posters flamed each other for a while before it was finally shut down.
at first i had to think.... who? but in summary, is this really ban-worthy? i know she rubbed some people the wrong way, but seriously - considering the reasoning, hasn't everyone on here seen much much worse from users that are still able to use the board? some people seem to revel in the personal attacks in posts and take the negative head on and turn it up to 1000, never let it go and drag it into the gutter and beyond, then have a moan when it all gets tiresome. meh, welcome to internet forums. suspend x3 with good and valid reasoning, then, if still a shit poster = ban p.s. i do find myself reading less and less on here, and it's even my browser homepage.
I lurk these boards much much more than I post and it was tiresome to try and read through BF's rants as of late. I have come across her on other Blazer Boards and it is always the same story with her. She deliberately attacked others and took offense to journalists who didn't opined the Blazers as the best team in the NBA or had the same perspective as her. The course of threads would go way off-topic as it soon became a boxing match between your opinion and others opinions. She was always right in her mind and it didn't become a discussion, but rather a point to prove others wrong about their own opinions and perspectives. The beauty behind forums is posting under anonymity, where your sex should be irrelevant. It seemed her stance was to fit in with the "boys" regarding sports talk, but she took it a step further and was down right rude to those that disagreed. It became more about her than our Blazers. Yes, we all could have just ignored her and sit on our big man balls, but it makes this place unpleasant to visit when you have a bad apple in the group. With the Blazers success, getting rid of this bad apple could possible open the gates for additional posters that were being held back because of that bad apple. From a business standpoint, Denny would rather have 5 more posters than BF, who holds posters back from visiting this site due to her antics. More $$$$$ in his pocket, right? Greedy SOB...j/k Bottom line is, BF's MO wasn't to solely discuss the Blazers, but to have the joy of antagonizing others. Just my 2 cents...
and yes, maybe a Flame, No holds barred, Turnt Up sub forum is a good idea? that way we can stronger enforce the healthy community vibe of the main forum discussion with definitive rules around tolerated actions and let the trolls lose their shit in the subforum? go in there, your problem etc.
Wow, haven't been around here for a couple days and am surprised to see Blazer Fanatic BANNED? No 3-day suspension? Just an outright ban for someone with no previous suspensions? Again, wow! Mixum/Carlito and Mediocre Man got WAY more rope to hang themselves with before they were finally banned (and banned again in Mixum/Carlito's case). Personally, I thought Blazer Fanatic added a lot to the forum. And I'm not talking about her "female perspective". She knows hoops better than 90% of the guys on this forum and apparently that intimidated some of the guys with smaller than average genitalia. She had strong opinions and backed them up. I guess some guys didn't find it very much fun to be confronted by a chick that knows more about basketball than they do. I'd tell the whiners to grow a pair, but it's too late for that. BNM
Still, if they've been communicating with her/him and asking her/him to cool it down, and she/he doesn't respond, what do you expect? If direct communication from the mods isn't changing anything, you think a temporary suspension is going to change it? Either you know you're repeated behavior (which was pretty much in every single post) is an issue and you're asked to fix it, how is a suspension going to help? It's different from MM's quick outburst - it's not like he does that in every single post.
So, put her on ignore and lurk on. No one was being forced to read her posts. At the very least, she should have been warned and suspended before getting an outright ban. Prior to this swift action, there have been VERY few posters banned from this forum and they deliberately trolled and baited other posters for YEARS before they were banned. Banning her outright seems very premature to me. She wasn't that bad and hadn't been doing it that long. BNM
I would expect a suspension. Other posters with far longer histories of disruptive behavior were give YEARS and countless second chances before being banned. Why, all of a sudden are posters being banned so quickly? Seems like very abrupt change in policy with no precedent. Bullshit. Mediocre Man was pulling the the same shtick for years and got suspended prior to FINALLY being banned. Mixum got countless warnings and suspensions before getting banned, came back as Carlito and got more warnings and suspensions before being banned again. So, suspend her and if the so-called offensive behavior continues after the suspension, THEN ban her. BNM
I kind of like that idea. Maybe even multi-level sub-forums that posters can be locked into based on how annoying they get. Kind of like Dante's nine levels of hell.
I agree in principle, but then neither of us were involved in the PM exchanges. At some point, you've got to let the mods do their thing and live with the consequences or find somewhere else to post.
Bullshit is right. How many times does she need to be told something before she stops? I wasn't one to complain. I didn't really care - I just glossed over her/his posts. I don't really care one way or the other. But the mods are doing their jobs. If people are repeatedly complaining, and the mods are actively communicating that she/he needs to stop a behavior, and she's not responding, what else can you do? It's not like she can't come back under a new name and post - she just needs to modify her/his behavior. It's a message board. Who cares if she has to come back under a new name. It's not like her IP is perma-banned (just look at mixum/carlito/brock/etc). But it's pretty much common sense that if you're asked repeatedly to stop doing a behavior, and you continue to do it, you're going to pay the price.
I will own up to having complained about her in this forum. I have not complained about her in any PM to a Mod or otherwise though.
This whole thing is hilarious to me. You guys bitch and moan when mixum or MM or whomever is suspended or banned quick enough, but then you bitch when the mods jump the gun on a poster. Mods can't win. Not trying to defend them, but it's clear they have a pretty thankless job (thank you, mods).
Ha, ha. Instead of 'banned' for being a jerk to everyone, you'd get 'banished' to a sub forum with other jerks. Otherwise known as 'Olive'.
Admittedly, I haven't read all of her posts, but I never saw anything she posted publicly that was ban worthy. It just seems odd that she was banned outright without ever being suspended. It's very inconsistent with previous bans where the offending posters got YEARS of warnings and suspensions before finally being banned. BNM
