Make a sub forum called rasheedfan2005's minions. Make me sole moderator but give me no moderation powers. Problem solved.
I have't posted in this thread because I've been in class all morning, but I've been following it on my phone. I didn't ban her. It was't my idea to ban her, but I fully support the decision because of a few reasons. First, I've never seen one poster cause so many problems and make so many enemies in such a short time. I actually didn't have a problem with her. We agreed and disagreed, mostly over Mo Williams, but I don't believe I was on her bad side. The problem is that those on her bad side would consistently hear about it. And she made personal attacks pretty regularly. She was not some innocent poster that everyone picked on because they were a girl. That's far from the truth. I think the forum, for the most part, treated her like they treat any poster. She was just extremely aggressive and combative, which she admitted was because she wanted to be taken seriously. I never understood that. We've had women posters on here who didn't have to be aggressive or "post like a man" to be taken seriously. Second, she was part of a small contingent of people who would viciously attack anyone who she perceived to be negative about the team. This was especially true about her interaction with Mediocre Man, but I got to see it from time to time about Mo Williams. She treated the players like her children and she would defend them against any kind of negative comments. This was cultivating a culture of us versus them among the forum. The homers versus the haters, but I don't believe there are any haters on this forum. We're all fans of the team. I don't like that some people think they can define what a true fan is, and she certainly tried. If you were not a true fan, by her definition, then you were a hater and you needed to be ridiculed. Kingspeed mentioned it a few days ago, but the people posting in the game threads have diminished quite a bit. Not saying that's entirely on her, but I do believe it contributed to it. Some of you have asked why she was given such a short leash, and the only thing I can say to that is that it's not just her. There has been a lot of fighting going on lately among many people, and the staff is taking steps to correct that. We are trying to get the forum back on track. In all honesty, Mediocre Man was given a lot of leeway because he's been here a long time, we know he's going through some serious things in his life right now with cancer, and we tried to be sympathetic about that. We have tried to cut other posters some slack if we know they are going through something, but we probably shouldn't. Just because you're going through a rough patch doesn't mean you can come on here and take it out on the forum.
Reading through this thread is pretty funny. Posters PM a mod to complain about BF. Mods ban BF and some very vocal posters saying banning unjustified and start calling the people who complained whiners. So when is complaining whining and when is whining complaining. Because there is either a whole lot of whining about BF AND whining about her banning and the posters who whined about her. Or there is a lot of complaining about BF AND complaining about her banning and those who complained againt her. But somehow some think sending a PM to a mod (never me BTW) is whining but calling posters whinners mulitiple times and complaining about the banning is not whining?????
It is interesting that we get just as many people complaining that you guys ban someone (after they happen) as we get people who ask for people to be banned (before it happens). I think people just like to complain either way. You Mods can't win. Rough job but I appreciate what you do. Edit: I see Treaty of Batum basically covered this....
That I haven't been banned a couple times is proof the mods here are sympathetic, patient, and carefully consider their actions before doing them. I've been known to fly off the handle and get so mad I pop a boner, but it isn't sustained. It's the sustained belligerence that gets the notice.
