1968 there were more pitchers with 20 wins then there were players that hit over 300. 7 pitchers had 20 or more wins & only 6 players hit over 300 that year. And if you think that's amazing only Carl Yaztremski hit over 300 in the AL winning the batting title with a 301 average.
Just had it pointed out to me that the following year was the year the height of the pitching mound was lowered...
looking at bob gibsons line that year always frazzled my mind as a child, they basically changed the rules of baseball after that year
