We have no black and white way of handling things. We look at the person, their history at RC2/S2 and what the problems are. When then make a decision from there. These changes have nothing to do with RC2/S2 being the official forum of the Portland Trail Blazers. They leave us alone.

And yes, it's always welcome for people to ask questions. That's why the first thing I did after banning her was telling the forum I did it. I'm doing this to invite discussion.

No, I did not send her a PM telling her she was going to be banned.

What was her reaction when you threw the hammer down on her?

Did she unleash one of her Lisa Lampenelli like diatribes on you?

Who said anything about a 24-hour suspension? Not me. Don't make it a weak slap on the wrist. Make it count. Suspend them for two weeks, or a month. In the past, we've seen 3-day, week long and I believe even month long suspensions. Just because suspensions didn't work on Mixum/Carlito and Mediocre Man, why the automatic assumption they won't work for Blazer Fanatic (or anyone else)? If the short term suspensions don't work, make them longer. Give the offending poster a couple weeks to decide if they really want to participate here knowing that they will have to modify their behavior if they do.

I agree, a 24-hour suspension is useless. I often go that long, or 48 hours or 72 hours without visiting the forum because I get busy with other things. That's completely voluntary, so to me a 24-hour ban would be meaningless.

Yeah, that was my problem with Mixum/Carlito. He as banned, came back with a new username and within about an hour everyone knew he was Mixum because he didn't change his disruptive behavior. Mods/Admins have the ability to see posters IP addesses, and when somebody who has been banned comes back with the same (or similar) IP address and starts posting in the exact same disruptive manner that got them banned in the first place, they should be banned immediately and their IP address blocked. That's what should have happened with Carlito, but he, as a repeat offender, got MUCH more leeway than Blazer Fanatic.

So yes, to answer my own question, evidently things have changed.

I think it has to do more with whining behind someone's virtual back, and not in the open forum. I respect any posters who call me out in the public forums. I may not agree with them, but at least I know where I stand with them.

I have no idea. I'm not even sure if she knows yet.

I have never used week or month long suspensions and I can't recall when we have. That may be something we look into in the future.

We have no way to ban an IP address. There is no such feature in the forum software.

So still, none of the hordes (whoops) of posters who were PMing the mods will admit to it in this thread? The very thread that explains why the poster they wanted banned was banned, with the reason being directly related to their covert complaining?

    LOL

I think forcing the person to come back with a new screen name, by very nature of this forum (i.e. no IP bans) is about as tough a punishment as one can get. I really don't understand the bitching about this.

And yes, things have changed. I thought that'd be apparent by reading the thread (as a few others have said).

She talked hoops more than 95% of us here, myself included.

I still stand by my theory that I laid out in my first post in this thread. Makes too much sense.

What a great way to get MM back in here? Say that you banned the chick he called a kunt.

Actually, she started some good threads about basketball, but they quickly devolved into shouting matches and pissing contests. So, I usually stopped reading those threads after the first few responses. Maybe that's why I don't recall ever seeing her post anything ban worthy. I do remember her and Mediocre Man getting into it a time or two, but from what I read, the things he typed were much more offensive than anything I saw from her.

Nevermind. I can tell who the people complaining to daddy about BF were based on their posts in this thread.

I never thought you'd be one to whine to the mods without first confronting the poster on the forum.

No one needs to admit anything.

The decision was made to ban BF late last night. It was decided not to do it until this morning so the forum could be told about it. This was done to encourage discussion.

Totally agree. I'd like to say it's the ones who are saying they understand/aren't surprised/don't care about the banning.

But that'd be implicating myself. And I didn't complain - I don't really care one way or the other, but I understand it and don't blame the mods, so I'm not going to cry. It's a message board for chrissakes.

Of course no one needs to admit it. I find that a chickenshit approach, but again, it's obvious who those posters are at this point.

LOL. I never thought your posts could get more lame.

Believe me, I never said anything. I've barely been here the last several days.

I haven't whined to anyone about anyone. I've never said anything about BF. In my experience, it's usually the first person to point fingers and call people out if the biggest of the snakes, though. :dunno:

It's usually the grave dancers who add little to things in terms of hoops talk, other than to gloat in ban threads.
