what other teams did you enjoy watching growing up?

    Mine were.....

The Giants, Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Hart, Marichal, Perry.
    The Tigers, Kaline, Horton
The Mets, just a New York thing.
The Cubs, Banks, Williams, Jenkins, Santo.

Well, being the youngin' in the group, I had a few more current teams....

Mets - NY thing.... Mookie, Ho Jo, Hernandez, Carter....
Oakland - Bash Brothers.... I know I know...

But mostly it was players I liked to see come to town to take on Donnie et. al....
Cal Ripken Jr., Ken Griffey Jr., Canseco (I know I know), McGwire (again, I know I know), Ricky Henderson even after leaving each time, Tony Gwynn, Boggs, etc.

Aside from the players I already mentioned I also had a few players that I just enjoyed watching. And they didn't even have to be great players. Like Tommy Tresh, Jim Ray Hart, Rico Petrocelli, Dave Kingman, Dick Allen, Boog Powell & big Frank Howard.

As a kid growing, my great uncle was invalid from a stroke, but his mind was sharp. He grew up in Cincinnati, so I learned to keep score from him watching the Big Red Machine. '76 was painful, but the next 2 years were awesome! I caught like Munson, used to piss off the coaches because they wanted everyone to crouch like Bench. All I know is that my knees are still good, lol!

The Swingin' A's of the early 70's...Everything about them was cool, full of swagger, great uniforms, the 'staches, highly entertaining personalities, crackpot owner who the players defied, but still played all out.

In fact - there was an HBO sports documentary several years ago that featured the rebel A's and the rebel Raiders at that time which was a great watch if anyone has a chance to see it.

Tigers of the 1960s....kind of my 2nd favorite team back then---- I no longer have any "2nd favorite team". lol
    I always liked that crew.

I was rooting hard for them in the 1968 series vs the Cards--> (who beat the Yanks in a tough W.S in '64)
The 1961 Tiger team won 101 games and went HOME as the GREAT '61 Yankee team won it all.
