So a guy that rebounds better than LMA (over the course of his career) in limited minutes, and who plays stud defense, wouldn't be a decent pickup in a fire sale? Don't get me wrong, I'm not sending out a starter or draft pick for him, but a trade similar to the one above? I think it would help the team a lot. Having Ridnour at backup PG and a big man rotation of LMA/Lopez/Freeland/Sanders? That's pretty sweet.
How does that work for the future? Sanders makes $11m for the next 4 years after this season, and Ilyasova makes $8/m per for the next 3 years. That's $19m tied up, and that's without LMA's or Lillard's upcoming max extensions.
Sanders' DWS aren't great, either, and his WS/48 is awful. At $6-$7m per over a few years, sure, you can bring him onboard, maybe, knowing he's a headcase who is prone to making bad decisions on and off the court.
http://www.sloansportsconference.co...of Interior Defense Analytics for the NBA.pdf This is the writeup (Goldsberry's advanced D-stats) I remember reading about him and his proximal defense.
He's had 4 years. One of which was in an extension year, which happened to be his only solid season. The guy has major issues off of the court, too. Not his fault how he was raised, but not worth 1/5 of your yearly cap space, IMO.
Whoever they pick up will be someone that fits into this culture. I know it's been mentioned a couple of times in here but a deal that would make sense (Although if this losing continues, I'm not sure it does) is a deal that brings Tyson Chandler to Portland. BTW. Sanders doesn't fit. Don't expect it to happen.
Here is a simple concept maybe Larry Sanders is just not trying because he does not want to play hard for a team actively trying to be the nba's worst. Put him in Portland and the thick of a playoff race and I bet you see the same guy as last year return.
Maybe or maybe this is why you do not actively tank as a franchise because people check out mentally and emotionally on your team.
Maybe it's a red flag that he has justified to himself to check out mentally. It's his job to be professional and to represent the franchise in a positive way. They took care of him. Why not feel the need to take care of the franchise take took care of you and your momma.
Are you saying that the other players on the Bucks are trying to lose, so the team can bring in other players to replace them? I highly doubt that is the case. If Sanders has quit on the Bucks, that means he's also quit on his teammates (after he got paid, of course), which would make him a shitty teammate.
Yeah, that's why he's available on trade. He gives us tremendous options in the front-line, makes us much stronger to deal with.
So he quits on the team that gave him a huge contract after his only good season, and suddenly he's an $11m player? I'd rather have Ropez playing center next to LMA than Sanders.
Something seems fishy in Milwaukee they have enough talent compete for a playoff spot in the east yet they are soundly the leagues worst team. Are the players trying to lose I am not sure, most likely I think the are being placed into situations where they are less likely to succeed thus guaranteeing a high lotto pick. Has sanders quit on his team? maybe but I believe the team quit on him first. Contract extension is a seperate matter from tanking. The point being I think Sanders needs a change of scenery and his game would be a good fit assuming he wants to be here.
Sanders didn't play most of the year, he got back in the lineup with the team last in the league and everyone playing for a draft pick
Since Sanders came back, they've won 1 game out of 17. He wasn't playing earlier because he got into a bar fight and broke his hand punching someone. Regardless, does that mean he doesn't have to play hard? If the team is tanking, why would they want to move Sanders, who is having a terrible year? I mean, if he's that good, wouldn't you want to keep him as a building block? Or, if you trade him, don't you want to at least get some #1 picks, instead of the scrubs I've seen mentioned in this thread? The guy is a headcase and a cancer, and his contract is terrible. The upside for other teams is that the Bucks must be desperate to move him. The downside is that he's a quitter on a ridiculous contract.
I fully believe the Bucks want to get a first for Sanders if they are going to consider dealing him. I certainly do not believe they will deal him for a group of scrubs buried on our terrible bench.
