Probably the mix of Option Two of "Stats back me up" and "I'd make a better GM". For me, part of my outside-the-board life is a requirement to have a decent amount of quantifiable proof to back up analyses. That flows over to the board.

I watch the game, watch the team, and form rational opinions and ideas based on my long term fandom and knowledge about basketball. I'm firm in my ideas, and I don't take any of that weak shit yo.

I'm the kind of fan who went to one championship parade in Portland about 37 years ago and wants to go to another one before I croak. Get 'er done, Olshey. Time's a-wastin'.

Ed Molloy is right up there too. Great take, Riverman.

Samesies. Between the Game 7 collapse (to go with other collapses) and the Oden thing...... I always support the team and start out with big hope, but as Brainiac says, when they suck ass and it's later in the year and there's little/no hope for redemption/improvement, I kinda move on if I have something better to do (Hey, baseball is my #1 sport and my SF Giants are legit). It's easier to do that than to get dragged down into the disappointment. The level of pride and love I had in the Blazers growing up has lead me to little more than bitter disappointment, yet I always believe we're close to making something big happen (until it becomes mathematically impossible).

It's always interesting when Baseball (my first love also) coincides with the Blazers in the playoffs... I have the MLB package this year (best of all sports, IMO) and love to just have baseball on as much as possible. But the feeling between the two sports (watching wise) is so different viewing wise... you have to pay so much attention in basketball, where as baseball is such an easy-going sport to follow.

Funny. I was going to say the same about your posts. It helped that I quoted it. (I'm kidding, FAMS.)

Baseball in a legit baseball town...... nothing better.... Warm, sunny day. Baseball on the field. Brat in one hand, beer in the other. Spring/Summer time. Outdoors.

Agreed. My favorite is that transitional season when the Blazers are still playing (i.e. in the playoffs) and I watch baseball and basketball. But you are right, the MLB package is sweet. I'll turn on a game (if the Giants aren't on at the moment, any other game with quality teams), open up some windows, and take care of whatever needs to be done around the house, taking time to relax and watch the game. Some days, I'll sit and relax and watch all day. We had a large deck built in the fall - I'm looking forward to relaxing out there and watching some games.

That does sound good, but not because of the baseball. Couldn't baseball be replaced with any outdoor activity in that scenario?

I mean cause I do that same thing but with basketball.

That was funny. That picture should be reused often, like the double facepalm one. Anyone got that archived?

baseball is amazing, these youngins got the adhd and cant appreciate summers subtle art, the soft crecendo of appreciable tension. they just want the climax

but many a simple wonder doth beguile the artless eye

Show me where the outdoor basketball is and I'm there.

I forgot the "smell of the grass". You can't beat that, except if you're at a game in SF. Talk about efficiency - you get the smell of multiple grasses.

I'm tired of having to spread rep around this board just so I can rep one of the few that are actually worthy. Sorry FAMS.

I do the same thing on my deck, watching birds flitter about. And the beers and hotdogs aren't $9 each.
