Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

HCP, if he does the three point contest, he will be the first player in history to do all five events.

    Dunk contest
    three point contest
    skill challenge
    rookie/soph game
    All-Star game

    I think he'll do it.

Hope he does it just for ref respect. The publicity could be key to a championship. All we need is a kia contract and some whistles.

He might embarrass himself. He's not a good outside shooter anymore.

He's shot over .375 from three point range once in the last 14 games. He's in a pretty bad slump right now.

Personally, I'd rather he spend his spare time getting three point reps in than practicing his all-star dunks.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

The dunk contest is already set. At this point it's the three point contest that's on the table. Honestly, I'd like him to do it. Maybe it will jolt him back into form. The guy has been extremely good under pressure and I'm thinking maybe the three point contest could get him his confidence back.

I think he and Wesley should both do it and get a little friendly team competition going. I think it would give us publicity as well as better chemistry.

Repped, I was just getting ready to say the same thing. It could actually snap him out of his slump.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

It's obvious that it's mental. He's doubting his shot right now and he needs something to snap him out of it. I think the three point contest could be just what the doctor ordered.

Or how about Dame and Wes vs Klay and Steph?

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

I hope so. It could go either way - he could either kill it, or completely embarrass himself. The way he's been shooting, the latter sounds more likely.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

I think it could help as well, but regardless he should be in it. (as should Wes) I don't think his slump should have anything to do with it. For all we know he is on fire from 3 pt range in practice. And the contest is basically like practice. No one is guarding them. Both he and Wes are perfect for it as neither jump very high with their shot. They would get in an easy rhythm and do well IMO.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

I don't see the harm in him doing it. I've seen plenty of really good three point shooters not do very well in the contest. I don't think he'll embarrass himself. Dame has a history of rising to the occasion. I think it's exactly the kind of thing that will get him some rhythm and hopefully get his shot back.

Whatever gets him back to shooting decently is good in my book!

Id love to see him in this contest. With him in everything it makes me really want to watch the events.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

I don't know why the NBA doesn't open up more of these contests to every team in the league. Tell every team to bring their two best three point shooters and run the prelims (two rounds each) in the morning, trimming off all but the top twenty (total makes in both rounds). Have the semis in the afternoon--another two rounds--making it top five or seven (again, total makes in two rounds). In the evening, run it the same way.

Do the same thing for that layup, mid-range, mid-court contest, but with all NBA players from every team. That trophy gets passed around and is a team award.

In other words, give fans a reason to root for their team and tune-in to All Star Weekend, even if they don't have a player in the game.
